THE MANDALORIAN Director Bryce Dallas Howard Weighs In On One Of The Biggest Fan Complaints About The Show

While many of you might know Bryce Dallas Howard best for her work in front of the camera in franchises like Spider-Man and Jurassic World, the actress has proven herself a superb talent behind it as well. As a director, she's most recently made a huge impact in a Galaxy Far, Far Away by helming some of the best episodes of The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.

Romper recently caught up with Howard and posed a big question to the filmmaker about whether Din Djarin's Beskar armour makes him a little too overpowered, especially when he can so easily shrug off blaster fire. "He's very strong, and in Mandalorian culture, they're trained to be warriors, and so they can do that," Howard explained. "But then, that's where bacta spray comes in as well."

"Because he doesn't have a bacta tank like Boba, but bacta spray is helpful," she added. "In the Boba Fett season, Mando got sliced by the dark saber, and then his leg was messed up. I was super excited to have that because I wanted to show he gets hurt and then heals from bacta spray."

Part of this interview was actually conducted by a child, but Howard's comments are still interesting. The fact that it was important to her to show that the bounty hunter can be vulnerable proves what a great understanding she has of the character, and drives home that, even with the Darksaber, Din isn't invincible. That's a point we're bound to see explored in The Mandalorian season 3.

Howard has become a key figure in this Galaxy Far, Far Away, and fans are eager to see her take on a major project similar to how Deborah Chow was given the reigns of the Obi-Wan Kenobi limited series.

The Mandalorian season 3 is set to arrive on Disney+ later this year.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - Like most complaints over popular things, a lot of this comes from Twitter

Funny cause the last BF episode was written by one. A 7 yo.

@dragon316 - Fits in with the type of shit you'd complain and incoherently ramble on about.

I feel like Mando got his ass whooped pretty regularly throughout the first 2 seasons. The only reason he should be having issues going forward is from significant characters that pose a threat (like the Dark Troopers) or overwhelming numbers of enemies. Naturally his armor is going to protect him from all random grunt/Storm trooper fire.

Also...obligatory thicc Bryce!

Have a blessed day people!

@dracula - i used to think boba fett was unstoppable besides a few jetpack issues, but his show really showed me he's easy to defeat. Like really easy.

In a universe where stormtrooper armor does literally nothing against lightsabers and blaster bolts, it makes sense story-wise, to have a special armor that can combat it.

@santoanderson - duh. It's obvious for anyone who pays even slight attention to the world in the show

Now that Mando has a jet-pack, a legendary unique lightsaber and a Force-user child as a companion, the only thing missing in this show is a worthy adversary for both of them.

Moff Gideon was doing quite well as a debut villain but he is defeated now and he wouldn't have posed much threat in the long run once Din manages to master the darksaber.

@Amuro -

The same as the Ahsoka show needing a adversary worthy of the phantom apprentice alongside Thrawn.

Actually, now that I think about it, it would be funny if Mary Elizabeth Winstead is Barriss.

Star wars is full of healing methods nowadays. Bacta tank, force heal, artificial limbs.

Force heal is so upsetting to me though. If baby yoda learns it, I may just have to stop watching.

shit man i have way bigger complaints than this.

the child has to be in the show
the dark saber
the random encounters with x wing pilots that have bad dialogue every time
and force wielders being on the show
Luigi

Jedis can lift things and people with their mind, control other's minds and have a sword that can slice through anything and makes them bullet proof. There's more over powerness than Mando.

Except Beskar armor.

@Luigi - Magic flashlight swords aren't that impressive when you consider three foot tall children's toys were shooting twigs through the galaxy far far away's best equipped military's space armor.

I have one complaint really and it goes for all the Disney plus series’. Why are the run times so short? They should give us close to an hour each time imo. Sometimes I’m watching moon Knight enjoying it but looking at the clock feeling like it’s just getting going when it ends. Seems to me they should at least give an hour to each show. TFAWS was probably the worst because of stunted character development & if they gave more time maybe it wouldn’t feel so shortchanged. But their method is paying off so they won’t mess with it. But it’s too bad cuz the product will always have success no matter how much content is dropped to the masses just wish we got more. That’s my complaint

My complaint is when they shoot at Mando they always aim for the parts that are covered in Beskar and not any of the parts that aren’t covered. Heck in BOBF they were shooting at Black Krrsantan and basically hitting his chest harness.

@AnthonyVonGeek - Very similar to when Cap holds his shield up to protect his head and upper body and they never shoot down at his legs.
