THE MANDALORIAN Star Ming-Na Wen Admits To Being "Disappointed" About Fennec Shand's Season 3 Absence

Like her The Book of Boba Fett co-star Temuera Morrison, Ming-Na Wen has admitted that she was also disappointed when Lucasfilm didn't call her about returning as Fennec Shand in The Mandalorian season 3.

The Book of Boba Fett star Temuera Morrison has already expressed his disappointment about not being part of The Mandalorian's third season. According to the actor, he was initially asked to appear, only to never receive a follow-up call from Lucasfilm.

After revealing he "was waiting for the phone call in New Zealand, waiting and wanting to give up," it's clear Morrison was unhappy with how he was snubbed, particularly after Din Djarin was given a substantial role in Fett's spin-off series.

Now, his The Book of Boba Fett co-star Ming-Na Wen (who plays Fennec Shand) has shared her own disappointment over being absent from The Mandalorian season 3.

"Sometimes when you take something out of context, it sounds worse than it is," she tells The Movie Dweeb (via SFFGazette.com) when asked about Morrison's recent comments. "I think we love our characters so much, that any time we can reprise and be that character - especially someone like me, right, Fennec Shand is my dream role - so of course you're gonna feel disappointed."

"Like, 'Why didn't they have me put on my outfit and get into the battle with everyone?' So I think that's sort of the disappointment, but at the same time we both totally understand and respect Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni's process and what they need to do in their storytelling."

"So it's just - yeah, we're greedy," Wen concludes. "I know I am, I would love to be in every single Star Wars project at this point from now on!"

That's a far more diplomatic answer, and as great as it would have been to see Fett and Shand appear in The Mandalorian's latest batch of episodes, there wasn't really room for them. Tatooine's new daimyo doesn't consider himself a Mandalorian, so why would he join Din and company on Mandalore short of doing his old pal a favour?

The characters will no doubt cross paths again somewhere down the line, though we recently learned that Morrison will likely play a key role in Ahsoka

As always, stay tuned to SFFGazette.com for the latest Star Wars updates.

Her final scene in BOBF was ridiculous and ended with her flipping from a 3ft crate for no reason..... no reason to bring her back for anything really

I’ll repeat my hopes for the SW shows to go for 4-season runs each. All as their own, self contained stories.

- The Book of Boba Fett: The Taking of Nar’Shadda (aka. Season 02)
Logline: Boba expands his empire to the space casino town of Nar’Shadda. Tons of space battles ensue in a Top Gun- in space inspired action heavy season. The season flashes back to Bobas rise as a Bounty Hunter from a teen to adult working for Jabba.

- The Book of Boba Fett: Return to Kamino (aka. Season 03)
Logline: Boba returns to Kamino, planning to build it up from the ashes. The season is intercut with flashbacks to Jangos past and desire to have a child.

- The Book of Boba Fett: High Noon (aka. Season 04)
Logline: The First Order threatens to overtake Bobas base on Kamino for their cloning prowess. In a final desperate battle Boba defends his people and dies a heroic death.

- Obi-Wan Kenobi: Trials for Serenity (aka. Season 02)
Logline: As Qui-Gon leads Obi-Wan through the desert he teaches his Padawan to accept his grief and loss as part of himself. Each episode deals with his relationship to important characters and is intercut with flashbacks to their best-offs of their relationships (his own family, Qui-Gon, Padme, Anakin, the Jedi and the Empire). In the end Qui-Gons spirit leaves and tells him he taught him all he never learned in life. Now Obi-Wan is more of a Jedi than anyone ever was.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: Bound by Blood (aka. Season 03)
Logline: a family story about Obi-Wan meeting his family and learning that his older brother is an imperial officer caught in a conspiracy that may leave the brother dead.
Their strained relationship is fixed over the course of the season as Obi-Wan shows his brother the kindness he never received. The season ends with Obi-Wan settling his brothers family safe from the empire in the outer rim and returns to Tatooine. Now he is free of all regret, has accepted that emotions are not bad but good and is the character we know from episode 4.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: The Lone Jedi (aka. Season 04)
Logline: An ensemble drama about the citizens of Mos Espa who are threatened by the Hutt Clan. “Perfect Jedi” Obi-Wan takes on the role of the Ronin coming to bring peace to a lawless town. No flashbacks this time, we get to meet the characters of Mos Espa and treat Obi-Wan as a mysterious badass.
Ultimately he’s given the shack in the desert by the villagers as a thank you for saving them from the Huts and being their protector. Obi Wan is now exactly the character we know and love from the OG trilogy.

Hire me Disney! (I’m not delusional, I know they sadly won’t)
