THE MANDALORIAN Star Pedro Pascal Confirms Din Djarin Is Now Solely A Voiceover Role For Him

We've long suspected that Pedro Pascal wasn't wearing Din Djarin's armour in The Mandalorian season 3, and the actor has now confirmed the role is one he only lends his voice to these days. Check it out...

It's no secret that Pedro Pascal has long shared The Mandalorian's lead role with stand-ins and stuntmen Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder. While The Last of Us and Wonder Woman 1984 star lends his voice to the bounty hunter in every singe episode, he's not always the one wearing the armour on set.

Or at all, for that matter.

While he was in front of the camera during The Mandalorian's first season and, occasionally for the second, Pascal has confirmed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter (via SFFGazette.com) that Din Djarin is strictly a voiceover role these days.

"There was an extended amount of experimentation, being in the suit for a lot of it, and frankly, my body wasn’t up for the task as far as, like, the four months of it," the actor reveals. "But I was in it. I was in it a significant amount, an elastic amount (he pretends to tug at his neck, where the suit would chafe)."

"But now we’ve figured it out, which is super cool, and amazingly, it gave me the opportunity to be able to go and do something else."

We saw Pascal's face once during season 1 and a couple of times in season 2, but not at all in the latest batch of episodes. The show explained that away by quickly having Din bathe himself in the Living Waters beneath Mandalore, meaning he's back to keeping his helmet on after previously breaking his vow by removing his helmet (thereby losing his status as a Mandalorian).

So long as Pascal continues to lend his voice to the character, we're sure this won't have a negative impact on the series, especially when Wayne and Crowder do such a terrific job. The actor certainly seems pretty happy with the deal, anyway, and doesn't appear to have any intentions of leaving the Star Wars franchise despite persistent nonsense rumours to the contrary.

The Mandalorian season 3 is now streaming on Disney+.

Hm...he said that well. I'm sure there was a pay cut, but my reaction (for me anyway, is obvious).

Imagine getting paid handsomely just to record voice lines and the occasional grunt. And still reap all the benefits of being a badass action star zipping through the galaxy, taking on beasts and bad guys. All from the cozy confines of an air conditioned recording studio in LA somewhere. You never have to see a day on set.

Dream job.

I’m sure he’ll gladly jump right back in that suit when it come times time to jump from a series to a feature film.

And the payday for being in the suit jumps from a series salary to a feature film salary.

Gotta say, this may factor into why they shifted focus to what's basically a bo katan show, while admitting they can focus on other mandalorians in the future.

Honestly if that's the case maybe just have his story be done and let him be a side character in other projects

It's voice only for him, read and flame only for me.

It's a total sack of shit now - in suit or out of suit. Throw the [frick]ing suit off a cliff. IDGAF

Picard S3 redeemed almost an entire IP universe.

Lemme know when Lucasfilm stops sucking balls on every piece of content.

@Batmangina - “Picard S3 redeemed almost an entire IP universe.”

Gross.

“Lemme know when Lucasfilm stops sucking balls on every piece of content.”

Don’t act like you don’t know about Andor.

@CassianAndor - I've actually heard great things about Andor - I killed my D+ subscription after Boba Fett shit the bed.

Assuming Andor is great, the question is then why is the only decent content Lucasfilm creating in a dead end/cul de sac Prequel situation?

Mandalorian S1 is the aberration that stands out as something that was unique yet familiar - the rest has been increasingly awful.

I use Picard as the poster child for IP redemption as the first two seasons were total dogshit on almost every level, yet S3 was such a shocking 180 degree turn in the right direction it caught everyone off guard.

If that's gross, so be it.

Lucasfilm should try being more gross and less shitty.

Much like the Andy Serkis and Doug Jones types, physical acting and suit acting is a completely different artform. Using different skills and talents and gifts. Pretty much since Ppwer Rangers when I was a kid, I understand when you can't see the characters face, body language becomes your method of visual storytelling. I think the folks they've had playing him have been great.

Back in season 1, the first episode I had a wild theory it might be a woman in the suit using a voice changer, so I was studying the body language of Mando more than the voice. Still up until the final episode when he took of his helmet, I was hoping it would be a woman, then she would but the helmet back on and the voice would go back to Pedro, and we learn Pedro is just the voice she picked.

Show is going downhill. Disney craps on everything good regarding Star Wars.

The MCU needs to scoop Pascal up for a big role.

Professor X, Mr. Sinister, Corsair, Sebastion Shaw, the possibilities are endless.

When the show first came out, and still so, I always thought his voice sounded like Chris Pine’s as Mando. Anyone else maybe hear it?

Think the only moment he had to be there was that final shot of him chilling at the farm with Grogu on Nevarro. Odd he didn't take his helmet off there

I just hope it's not 3-and-done. This is/was one of my favorite shows, and a highlight of my week.
