THE MANDALORIAN Star Timothy Olyphant Finally Breaks Silence On THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT's Cobb Vanth Twist

The Book of Boba Fett ended with Cobb Vanth returning from the dead, and while Timothy Olyphant has finally weighed in on that unexpected development, he isn't giving much away about his Star Wars future.

We were first introduced to Cobb Vanth in The Mandalorian's season 2 premiere. After discovering Boba Fett's armour, he used that to protect his town and eventually crossed paths with Din Djarin when the bounty hunter came looking for one of his fellow Mandalorians.

A thrilling team-up followed that saw Vanth eventually give up that armour (it later found its way back into Fett's hands), but that wasn't where his story ended.

When Tatooine's new crime boss needed some backup in The Book of Boba Fett, Din turned to Vanth for his help. Before he could get involved, though, a duel with Cad Bane ended badly for the hero and we were led to believe he'd fallen in battle. It seemed like a waste of a great character, but the series had one final surprise in store for us.

A post-credits scene revealed that Vanth was in a Bacta Tank and about to receive some cybernetic upgrades, a good indication that we can expect him to live to fight another day.

TV Line (via SFFGazette.com) recently quizzed actor Timothy Olyphant about that stinger, and while he finally broke his silence on the scene, he was willing to give nothing away!

"You guys know that world better than I do," the actor teased, "and you know that even if I knew anything, I wouldn’t say s–t."

Something tells us we could see Cobb Vanth make his return in The Mandalorian season 3, especially as we know Din and Grogu are heading back to Tatooine. However, with rumours swirling that The Book of Boba Fett season 2 is also in the works, there's every chance he could become that former bounty hunter's new right-hand man.

As always, it seems we'll have to wait and see, but a spin-off might be fun!

The Mandalorian season 3 premieres on Disney+ this Wednesday, March 1.

He needs to go full on Justified! on their a$$es.

@DocSpock - If Boba Fett's solo show eventually leaves Tattooine (I'm hoping to see him expand his empire to Nar Shadda or other planets; each season having a new planet) I'd hope for a spin-off show about Vanth being essentially the sheriff and keeping peace in Mos Eisly.

@Blergh -

That would be excellent. Olyphant is great for this role.

@DocSpock - Yes, yes he would be. How much [frick]ing freetime do you have?

All the time in the world. I am involuntarily retired due to a destroyed body. No hunting, camping, or fishing for me until my upper spine is fully reconstructed.

I want Olyphant in the MCU. He's got the build and the charm for Gambit maybe? If he can do the accent.

Or some role alongside Mobius.

@TheManWithoutFear - maybe when he was younger. But now, especially when all signs are pointing to a teenaged x men? No way.

@TheManWithoutFear - Not MCU but Olyphant has always been my top choice to play Roland in a proper adaptation of The Dark Tower. I know it's a bit of typecasting considering his roles in Deadwood and Justified but he'd be perfect.

@TheManWithoutFear - you know, there's a casting call out for:

TheSuperMex

@TheManWithoutFear - I think Cable would be cool for him.
CorndogBurglar

@Origame - Out of curiosity what makes you think the X-Men will be teenagers? There will obviously need to be older mutants because you can't have a teenaged Xavier lol. So if there can be a mutant as old as Xavier then the X-Men don't need to be teenagers.
CorndogBurglar

@TheManWithoutFear - Timothy Olyphant is 54 years old lol. No way they would cast him for any of the X-Men.

@TheSuperMex - yeah that could be cool

@DanielPlainviewsGhost - Ooooo, that's great casting. He just needs to lean into that Clint Eastwood vibe that SK based Roland on. Although I"m not sure if Timothy would be willing to lose the fingers for "The Drawing of the Three" chapter. But, hell, if Keanu could do it for "John Wick 3" then I'm sure Tim would be down for it... wait (checks earpiece) my producer is telling me that the actors don't actually have to remove appendages for movies and that there is something called" VFX". Well, that makes things easier.

Let's go with Tim then.
Origame

@CorndogBurglar - bare minimum the likes of Jean Grey will be teens. And more specifically rogue would also be a teen. Meaning if they're going to bring in gambit he'd need to be closer to teenaged as well.

I could see him as like a Mr sinister or wolverine.

@TheManWithoutFear - when I look at Olyphant, I see only one thing:

Repian

@TheManWithoutFear - Timothy Olyphant to play Billy Russo in the MCU. Olyphant could be a great gangster and a great villain for The Punisher.

@Repian -

He would be the perfect Sebastion Shaw.

Call it

@dracula - could be. Don't think Cobb is that willing to work for the Republic though

There’s nothing to this shit right now. Sitting on a gold mine of Old Republic goodness, and they’re still milking this same era over and over, and now we’ve got word that that’s their long term plan, to milk the same era. Fatigue has firmly set in. It’s boring.

I’d watch a show about Cobb

I'll be honest... I completely forgot Cobb Vanth was ressurected. Unless Mando was onscreen, my eyes glazed over alot of that finale.

@bkmeijer1 - Normally about half of the audience leaves the theater after the mid-credit scenes. Sometimes I inform someone passing by my seat on the way out that there are more scenes and some of them will. I quit telling people when I stopped going in early 2020, and never felt like doing it again (not sure why).
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 2/28/2023, 3:50 AM
@LSHF - in the early days it was even the cinema crew who told those leaving. Now it is such a common thing to do now in movie and tv, that everybody expects it all the time.

No idea why I skipped Boba Fett's though. Maybe I even didn't and just forgot.
