Ewan McGregor was recently a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and while he chose his words carefully when it came to his role in Disney+'s Obi-Wan Kenobi, the actor did confirm that cameras are now rolling. As for spoilers, McGregor is all too aware that most fans don't really want to know what's going to happen
"I don’t think they can fire me, no," he admits in the video below. "But they wouldn’t be at all happy with me. Nor would anybody else. It would be a shame to spoil...that’s the thing about all these reveals, it just spoils it for the fans."
McGregor went on to talk about shooting the series, and confirmed that cameras were rolling for a very special scene on May The Fourth, a.k.a. Star Wars Day.
"I got to play a very special scene on May the fourth with someone very special in my life, and that’s all I can tell you about it."
He didn't offer any hints beyond that, but dare we hope that it was with Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader? The actor was also quick to stress that he's been having a blast returning to a Galaxy Far, Far Away.
"I have to say I’m having a really, really good time. It’s all still there. It feels good. There’s some great scripts and great people to work with, and it’s great. I’m having a good time."
We haven't seen any decent set photos yet, but an official first look can't be too far away.
"The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Kenobi faced his greatest defeat," reads the Obi-Wan Kenobi synopsis, "the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader."
The cast includes Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie. We don't know when exactly Obi-Wan Kenobi will premiere on Disney+, but 2022 is likely.
