Deadline reports..

..The payweb has begun talks to acquire the Neil Gaiman novel American Gods to be developed into another fantasy series. The project was brought to HBO by Playtone partners Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, and it was brought to them by Robert Richardson. The plan is for Richardson and Gaiman to write the pilot together.

For those of you unfamiliar with the novel, it's great, go read it. Need a bit more? ok..

Released from prison, Shadow finds his world turned upside down. His wife has been killed; a mysterious stranger offers him a job. I'm glad that you weren't censored on the homepage, but censored on the article page haha. I'm guessing this is going to be a mini-series?

Now if they could only get that Sandman series up and running.

One of my favorite books and so excited it's HBO. I heard they are planning to turn it into a regular series not just a mini-series. Another article online said the world of the novel opens itself up to a longer run.

ELgUaSon@ comics books characters are American Mythology! Stan Lee said so, must be true then!
His (Gaiman) last couple cinematic endeavors was enjoyable to me. Mirrormask was out there and Stardust is a beautiful fantasy tale. Lookin forward to this.

@MaddMonkk I didn't know Gaiman was involved with Stardust. I loved it, don't understand why it didn't do well. Mirrormask was simply amazing.

I just d/led the ebook of American Gods, guess I'll be reading it soon to prepare for the series. Can't wait.
