Production recently got underway on The CW's DC Comics adaptation, Naomi, and a first official look at Kaci Walfall (Power) as the titular teenage hero is now online courtesy of a promo still which pays homage to issue #1 of the comic series.
Writer/producer Ava DuVernay shared an image of Naomi zipping through a school corridor on her skateboard earlier this month when cameras started rolling, but this marks our first proper look at the Walfall as the character.
We recently learned that the first episode of Naomi might just feature a cameo from a very famous DC superhero, but that's yet to be confirmed.
DuVernay teamed with Arrow writer and co-exec producer Jill Blankenship to write and exec produce the project, which is based on the 2019 teen superhero tale of the same name from writers Brian Michael Bendis and David F. Walker, and artist Jamal Campbell.
The comic follows Naomi McDuffie, a teenage superhero from an alternate Earth with energy-based powers who discovers that she was sent to the Prime Universe to be preserved from Zumbado, the destructive conqueror of her home planet.
The show is expected to focus on "a teen girl’s journey from her small northwestern town to the heights of the multiverse. When a supernatural event shakes her hometown to the core, Naomi sets out to uncover its origins, and what she discovers will challenge everything we believe about our heroes."
Sarah Bremner and Paul Garnes are also on board as producers.
