Does Spider-Man Appear Or Get A Mention In VENOM? Here's The Answer - SPOILERS

Ever since Venom was announced, rumours have swirled that Tom Holland's Peter Parker/Spider-Man would make an appearance. Does it happen? Well, you can find that out after the jump but spoilers follow...

When Sony first announced plans for a Venom movie, fans immediately started speculating about the possibility of Tom Holland's Spider-Man swinging into San Francisco. There were rumours that we'd see Tom Holland on a field trip at the Life Foundation, while pretty much everyone involved with Venom have claimed that the door is open to Spidey and Eddie Brock meeting somewhere down the line.

So, does the wall-crawler appear in this movie? No. Does he get any sort of mention? No. There's not even an Easter Egg hinting at his existence like Eddie mentioning a superhero with similar powers existing on the other side of the country. The same applies to any references to the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe so make no mistake about it; Venom very much takes places in its own universe. '

There's nothing to say Spider-Man couldn't meet Venom somewhere down the line, of course, but it seems like something Sony is simply saying to appease fans rather than it ever becoming a reality. After all, there's no way Kevin Feige will want to use this version of the villain in the MCU based on those reviews and Sony will probably just reboot Spidey when his tenure in that world comes to an end.

Are you disappointed about the lack of Spidey in Venom? Share your thoughts in the usual place.

Yeah, because there are no mentions of it, that automatically means it takes place in its own universe. Clearly when i went to work yesterday i ended up in another universe too because no one mentioned who the president was.

We all knew he wasn't gonna be in it.

Sony just wanted to bait us.

How to make non-news clickable: add a spoiler alert. Spoiler: Popeye is also not in Venom. Neither is The Fonze. Don’t ruin it for others by blabbing that around.

I kinda hoped it would take place in the Amazing Spider-Man universe. Just say that Spider-Man died in the fight with Rhino and have Miles Morales become Spider-Man and blah blah just make it the ultimate universe or something like that. I just want to know what happened to the Parkers okay

@MalseMarcel - What a grim ending that would have been. He stops being Spider-Man for months and finally makes his triumphant return, only to get slaughtered by a Saturday morning cartoon in a mech suit.

Venom is such a great comic book story how can Sony screw it up ? Something that great can't be changed.

So Schnepp was wrong. Very morbid but, he's not around to get shit for it. I hate to even bring it up but he was the main proponent that was saying Peter would appear in the movie.

@FearTheLiving - Schnepp was known to make the most random things up on the spot (usually a mixture of rumors and his inner-fanboy). I love the guy, I miss him even more-- but it was annoying.

@Kurne -

exactly. i miss him too, but he was also the main proponent of that rumor that the IW home release would have new Thanos origin footage spliced *back into the movie.

*i should say "back" because, despite Jim Starlin's statement, we knew ahead of time that the Russos had cut all that stuff in the script stage.

@FearTheLiving - If he was still here he'd just make up a lame excuse for being wrong the same way he did when 4stic crashed and burned.

He made some lame comment like: "If you still haven't seen 4stic, then you can't tell me that I was wrong".

.....Yeah, so after that I never watched anything by Schnepp ever since. But since you brought him up I see this as a fitting end to his legacy.

That's honestly a relief. I don't want this crap contaminating the MCU or Holland Spidey saga in any way/

@BIGBMH - Me neither. If Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse flops too, I don't want any part of it either. I hope it's good. Hey, Big. I've updated my Ultimates 3 and Ultimatum article a lot just like you said. What do you think of it?https://www.comicbookmovie.com/comics/marvel_comics/mark-millar-could-have-done-the-ultimates-3-and-ultimatum-better-a160252
