You may or may not have read my last article 10 months ago, but in case you haven't, here's the link if you're interested: www.comicbookmovie.com/venom/sonys-marvel-universe-what-the-planned-spidey-less-franchise-could-look-like-a152309
In that article, I did a fan art and discussed what Sony's Marvel Universe could look like. So, here's an update! In the 10 months since my last article, there have rumors of Spike Lee hired to direct NIGHTWATCH and Antoine Faqua having a talk with Sony for MORBIUS: THE LIVING VAMPIRE, which is one of my biggest dream roles. Anyway, what I've created here is a timeline and even some possible story ideas for a few of these projects. These are just predictions - albeit awesome predictions - by the way, so don't take this the wrong way. And now, my vision....
VENOM
release date: October 5, 2018
We now know the story, got two awesome posters, saw a tedious teaser trailer, got a sick first trailer....what else is there to say? Though, I would suggest that regardless of what happens to Eddie Brock, Ann Weying, or Carlton Drake....we could witness an appearance of Ezekiel Sims in a mid-credits scene, a post-credits scene, or at least the ending of the movie. Not entirely guaranteeing for Sony to have their own Nick Fury, but should such appearance happens, he better be played by Ron Perlman!
SILVER & BLACK
possible release date: February to October 2020
worse case scenario: February to July 2021
This project here is supposed to come out on February 8, 2019. But with script issues, no casting, and no filming....there's no way they're going to make it! So, I picked the best release date strategies Sony should go for above. However, I should remind you all that it’s to be directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, making her the first black female to direct a major superhero movie. We know that the possible story for this movie is Silver Sable chasing down Black Cat then teaming up together with The Wild Pack, you know, like THELMA & LOUISE. It's rumored to have Norman Osborn, Gaunt, Chameleon, Scorpion, Tarantula, and Tombstone as the villains, which is a LOT! If that happens, it could get the same backlash as SPIDER-MAN 3 and THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 for their case of villain overload. As of now, we still don't have an official premise, know which villains are confirmed, and the question probably all of you are asking: who will play Silver Sable and Black Cat? There are so many hot actresses who have yet to appear in a major superhero movie, so it's anyone's guess. Hell, I'm having a hard time fan-casting which two lovely ladies would be perfect for the roles! If you like, why not comment on your suggestions of who should play who and maybe I'll get an idea. Comment away on your fan-casting explaining who and why and I cannot wait to check them out!
VENOM 2 or VENOM: MAXIMUM CARNAGE
possible release date: October 2020
worse case scenario: February to October 2021
This obviously all depends on how successful the first movie is, let alone other universe movies! Assuming if Ann Weying survives the first movie or dies some point in this one, she may or may not become She-Venom. I mean, she does become She-Venom after she dies in the comics, so we'll see. Though, it would make perfect sense judging by story and trailers that Carlton Drake should be the only villain in the first movie for the sake of not overcrowding. This is where Venom fans will be asking: what about Carnage? While it was rumored that Woody Harrelson's "henchman" character in the first movie is Cletus Kasady a.k.a. Carnage, it would be best to save that villain and his story for THIS movie. Bottom line: we should finally witness Venom vs. Carnage here!
NIGHTWATCH
possible release date: 2021
worse case scenario: 2022
It would be great for both Sony and comic book movie lovers if Spike Lee will actually direct this project, especially for a black superhero. But, whether or not he does, we'll obviously have an origin story! Still, who do you think should play Nightwatch and who should be the villain?
MORBIUS: THE LIVING VAMPIRE
possible release date: 2021
worse case scenario: 2022 or even 2023
Antoine Faqua is the badass director and Denzel Washington collaborator who I didn't imagine would be a candidate to direct a superhero movie about a white man cursed with vampirism! Whether or not I play Morbius, we should have another dark origin story on our hands. Maybe the villain will be Man-Wolf just for the whole vampire vs. werewolf scenario, though some of you might suggest Morlun. This begs the question: who do you think should be the villain and if not me, who should play Morbius?
AN UNTITLED AMBITIOUS CROSSOVER MOVIE
possible release date: 2022
worse case scenario: 2023 or even 2024
Think of this as Sony having their own Avengers, but instead of a team of heroes, they're a team of anti-heroes! If this were to happen, I would guess the villain would be either The Green Goblin or Morlun depending on how it will work story-wise. Who do you think they should fight and where?
VENOM 3 or VENOM: PLANET OF THE SYMBIOTES
possible release date: 2023
worse case scenario: 2024
If they do this cinematic universe in phasing, then this could be the start of Phase 2! There were hints that the first VENOM movie would also have Scream, Agony, Phage, Lasher, and Riot. Couldn't we just focus on Eddie Brock becoming Venom for now? Depending on how the story goes, it would be a great idea for Venom to have his own symbiote army with these five gooey monsters in THIS movie against a villain possibly worse than Carnage if there is such a villain. I can already imagine it!
OTHER POSSIBLE PROJECTS
There are LOTS of ideas Sony could go with this! After all, Spider-Man did have a ton of allies and villains who are heroes or anti-heroes yet since Spidey is in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he's definitely out of the picture. Sony would obviously consider sequels to SILVER & BLACK, NIGHTWATCH, and MORBIUS while making more crossover event films. Still, they should definitely explore other heroes or anti-heroes while they're at it like Spider-Gwen, The Wild Pack, Cardiac, Glass Ceiling, The Rocket Racer, Spider-Girl, Silk, Firestar....you know what I'm talking about! Of course, there were rumors of Kraven the Hunter and Mysterio having their own movies, but I don't recall either of those two becoming heroes or anti-heroes at some point in the comics.
So, there you have it, folks! My updated predictions on Sony and their potential Marvel universe. What do you think of my bold ideas and how would you plan all this? As long as VENOM stands alone as it's own movie, then we should get what I'm here for. Quality first, then quantity! Also, if any of you say that they should all be in the MCU, please don't. I respect your opinions, but I just dislike that universe and what they did to Spider-Man. Still, this right here would be the perfect back-up plan for Sony, so let me know what you think in the comments down below!
