Sonly Online Entertainment released new information and assets today for DC Universe Online, including a few details about Bizzaro!

In hopes of having a Superman of his very own, Lex Luthor called upon his top scientist Dr. Teng to scan and replicate the hero’s genetic structure. Due to complications in the construction of the carbon copy, their results gave birth to a monstrous menace, Bizarro.

Bizarro has a reputation on the streets of Metropolis that is the polar opposite of Superman’s. With freeze vision, flame breath, and strength to match Superman’s, Bizarro is a daunting enemy. Kryptonite, which can cripple Superman, actually gives Bizarro strength, giving him an advantage over Superman.

Dig it. Like the design. Sure beats the crappy Bizarro with the No. 1 hanging from his neck.

What is going to make this game different than Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2? I have that game and it's fun as hell! I heard that you can't even play as any of the heroes in this game. Also, anyone know when the DLC for Carnage and others comes out for MUA2?

JoshWilding - 10/23/2009, 11:12 AM
Banner123: Ugh, I just finished MUA2 and Im really disappointed! The graphics were average, the stroy was crap and the ending was dreadful! Not to mention the voice acting...who the hell though that was a good choice for Thor!?! It was fun sometimes but Id say that the first one was better - at least in that one you explored the Marvel Universe and met some motre interesting characters! I dont know when the DLC come out though sorry! (love the avatar by the way, lol!)

It's hard to tell with DCUO because they haven't released a TON of information... They don't even have a release date yet.

I can see their issue of not letting there be playable DCU characters, they said at Comic Con that it's impossible to decide who should get to play them... I mean you can't have 100 Supermen running around thrashing everything... Or could you? :o)

That being said, Star Wars: The Old Republic and Star Trek Online (I just posted the teaser trailer) both look like they could be contenders for the next big MMO.

@Joshw and Banner123 - First of all. YES: Thor's voice was awful. Makes me think of Saturday morning cartoons.

Secondly...how is this game played? Gaming systems or just online? Can you play as dc characters or just your "new hero". I really don't know a lot about this game and can't seem to find a whole lot. It looks cool though.

this game is just your average MMO game. you run around the city, get quests from DC characters. go on said quest, and click repeatedly on enemies to fight them. i'm no impressed one bit with this.

I'm pretty pumped about the hero generator but I wish they'd release a demo of it so we can see what kind of heroes you could become.
love the hiketeia avatar by the way.

Can someone please tell me how this game is going to work?

@TheDurkinKnight - DCUO is a new Massively Multiplayer game from Sony. It's going to be playable on the PC and PS3 (they've built it based upon the PS3s capabilities and the PC will include a little more "shine").

You basically get to be a hero or villain, and you then pick up missions which you can team up with DCU characters to complete (ie. you can help Superman with Doomsday on one mission, or Lex Luthar, etc).

The game looks and plays pretty well (I got the hands-on treatment at Comic-Con), but it's a shame that you won't be able to BE any of the DC characters... You have to create your character from scratch.

Ok first off .. this is a MMO and if you could be the established characters you would just have a bunch of Bats and Supes running around... That would be no fun at all.. Second it is not like wow where you click a button and auto attack, you actually have to hit the enemies and I see it very GTA/Spiderman 2 style.. Bottom line is that if you are a true fan I think you should definately try it before you catagorize it.

@ td90

well i guess i'm not a true fan then. gee, i wonder why i've been reading comics for 20 of the 27 years of my life? huh.

one thing i always wondered, if kryptonite gives him power, shouldn't sunlight weaken him? that seems a little unfair. bizzaro rules.
thwhtGuardian
thwhtGuardian - 10/23/2009, 5:08 PM
hmm I wonder how they'll pull off the attacks if it is how you say td90, I had assumed it'd be like wow just for simplicities sake. Interesting. What you say about not being actual DC heroes is true though, I'm glad about that. It's the same with the starwars mmo why be a smuggler or a soldier when you can be a jedi? I played the ten day trial for starwars galaxy once and never saw a single smuggler. Depending on the types of powers available I think this game could be like that too. I mean do you really want to be a batman like hero is you can be nearly invincible? The classes really have to be balanced.

@godl1ng I think some writers address that while others don't. I know in trinity he is imprisoned in ice in Antarctica where he is exposed to the sun so he is weaker. And in Superman/Batman:Vengeance he is shown to operate during the night.
I kind of miss the DCAU bizzaro I loved the sort of hulkish look they gave him.

I like the weird Bizarro from an alternate universe better... But I do hate that #1 sign hanging around his neck.
