In Pixels, when intergalactic aliens misinterpret video-feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war against them, they attack the Earth, using the games as models for their various assaults. President Will Cooper (James) has to call on his childhood best friend, ’80s video game champion Sam Brenner (Sandler), now a home theater installer, to lead a team of old-school arcaders (Dinklage and Gad) to defeat the aliens and save the planet. Monaghan plays the team's unique weapons specialist. The action-comedy is directed by Chris Columbus from a story by Tim Herlihy and a screenplay by Tim Herlihy and Timothy Dowling, based on the original short film of the same name by Patrick Jean.

What a waste of such a hilarious premise. Sandler really needs to start his retirement ASAP.

@Rulk T3 is better.

Pixels had such an amazing premise. Too bad they decided to turn that premise into an Adam Sandler movie. I really enjoyed the Centipede fight though.

I think I'm more upset that there is a pixels release date and not an ant-man release date yet. Ant-man came out a week before pixels and yet pixels gets a digital release date before it? Wtf? F pixels and give me ant-man digital release!

Pixel's wasn't as atrocious as reviews made it out to be. It definitely could have been funnier and a lot of jokes fell flat (Lady Lisa being a mute and a literal trophy didn't help female representation at all in the film). The action scenes were pretty fun and inventive though. Not gonna get it on Blu-Ray or DVD but not a godawful mess like people made it out to be.

dapug88- I'm guessing if a film doesn't do so well box office wise, the distributor gets it out on home release if it's not making money for them in the cinema. Ant-Man made more than Pixels and is possibly still playing in a few places, albeit not too regularly. Ant-Man will come out just in time for the Christmas market.

I enjoyed Pixels. Went to see it with my son and we both laughed at it. Yes it's silly. Yes the humour is very Sandler-esq, but if you buy a ticket to a film about computer games invading planet earth with Adam Sandler in it what do you honestly expect? I will be picking up the bluray when it comes out, I shall watch it with my son again and we will enjoy it.

Sod the haters.
