When Gotham Knights releases in October, there will be no shortage of iconic villains you'll have to face as the Bat Family. In a newly released trailer at Gamescom today, two more joined the list: Harley Quinn and Clayface.
The latest trailer for the upcoming open-world, action RPG is all about the villains. With Batman dead, Gotham City is now at the mercy of the criminal underworld. Mr. Freeze, Harley Quinn, Clayface, and the Court of Owls are just some of bad guys from Batman's rogues gallery we get a glimpse of in the trailer, which you can check out below.
WIth Gotham City in peril, it's up to the Batman Family - Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin - to work together and protect the city and its citizens. Gotham Knights is designed as an open-world, action RPG where you'll be free to explore Gotham City and bring order to its five discting boroughs. While the game is unrelated to the beloved Arkham series, this open world aspect where you're free to drop in on criminal activity wherever you find it should feel quite familiar to fans.
Gotham still stands, but for how long? There’s a storm coming and Renee Montoya knows she can’t trust the GCPD to fight it. She must ally herself with our Knights before it’s too late. Will they stand a chance against the wrath of Mr. Freeze, Harley Quinn, Clayface, and the Court of Owls as they each try to take over Gotham City? Or will the villains reign over Gotham?
In addition to the new trailer, Warner Bros. Games had another surprise announcement for us. Gotham Knights will now release on October 21, 2022, four days earlier than the previously announced October 25th launch date.
Gotham Knights will only be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC after the last-gen PS4 and Xbox One versions were scrapped. Warner Bros. didn't provide a specific reason for the last-gen cancellation, saying at the time the decision was made to ""provide players with the best possible gameplay experience."
The setbacks surrounding Gotham Knights have been well-documented, and even now we approach its release with cautiousness. It's possible that delaying the last-gen version allowed the studio to devote the necessary time to polish the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of Gotham Knights.
If you're interested, Gotham Knights is currently available for pre-order. Doing so will net you the exclusive 233 Kustom Batcycle Skin.
