DC Entertainment's next animated feature will be an adaptation of Netherrealm Studios' best-selling Injustice: Gods Among Us video game, and we recently learned that the movie is set to arrive on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray and Digital on October 19.

Now, the first trailer has been released online (via IGN), and it should give those unfamiliar with the games a much better idea of what to expect.

The teaser begins with The Joker and Harley Quinn murdering Lois Lane, who is carrying Superman's unborn child at the time. When word reaches Kal El, he abandons the principals he swore to uphold and goes on the warpath. Can Batman and the rest of the Justice League get through to their leader before he crosses the line? And if not, do they have any hope of taking down a rampaging Man of Steel?

Check out the trailer below along with the Blu-ray cover art, full cast list, and extra features.

Inspired by Injustice: Gods Among Us, NetherRealm Studios’ popular video game, and the best-selling DC graphic novel based on the video game, Injustice: Gods Among Us: Year One by Tom Taylor, the animated film Injustice finds an alternate world gone mad - where The Joker has duped Superman into killing Lois Lane, sending the Man of Steel on a deadly rampage. Unhinged, Superman decides to take control of the Earth for humanity’s own good. Determined to stop him, Batman creates a team of like-minded, freedom-fighting heroes. But when Super Heroes go to war, can the world survive?

This adaptation has Matt Peters (Justice League Dark) on board as director, with Ernie Altbacke (Batman: Hush) penning the story. You can check out a full rundown of the impressive voice cast below.

Injustice will feature: Justin Hartley as Superman, Anson Mount as Batman, Laura Bailey as Lois Lane and Rama Kushna, Zach Callison as Damian and Jimmy Olsen, Brian T. Delaney as Green Lantern, Brandon Michael Hall as Cyborg, Edwin Hodge as Mr. Terrific and Killer Croc, Oliver Hudson as Plastic Man, Gillian Jacobs as Harley Quinn, Yuri Lowenthal as Mirror Master, Flash and Shazam, Derek Phillips as Nightwing and Aquaman, Kevin Pollak as Joker and Jonathan Kent, Anika Noni Rose as Catwoman, Reid Scott as Green Arrow and Victor Zsasz, Faran Tahir as Ra’s al Ghul, Fred Tatasciore as Captain Atom, Janet Varney as Wonder Woman, and Andrew Morgado as Mirror Master Soldier.

This has pre-2014 DC Animation vibes. Follows the story, uses dialogue straight from the comic, matches the artwork. Love it.

I love the games, so I'm excited for this. Joker's face looks weird, but everything else is good enough.

@dragon316 - Wonder Woman is on Superman's side once he starts the regime. That cover could just be her trying to stop him from killing Batman. It doesn't really look like she's fighting him. More like restraining him as he tries to punch Batman.

@CorndogBurglar - Yeah but she is way more war hungry too, like I am fairly sure in the game she's so ready to beat the hell out of Bats time and time again. Did I mention how close they are going with the story though? Cause the Green Lantern shield is new, unless it was in the comics?

@BlackBeltJones - sublime-tending to inspire awe usually because of elevated quality (as of beauty, nobility, or grandeur) or transcendent excellence

Yeah, hard disagree.
