RUMOR: Possible Roster for MARVEL VS CAPCOM: INFINITE Leaks

Reportedly the roster for the upcoming sequel has been leaked, and some of the new additions may surprise both Marvel and Capcom fans alike. Read on to find out who may be in the upcoming brawler.

Reportedly, a NeoGaf user by the name of Ryce (who is considered on the board to be a reliable source of inside information) revealed what he claimed to be the list of hte inital roster for Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite, which would be the fouth (depending on how you count the Ultimate edition of the third game) installment in one of Marvel's footholds in the gaming world. The results may certainly be surprising, so there they are:

One thing you may notice about this roster is that there aren't a lot of newcomers this time around, mostly consisting of older returning characters (though the "Rocket/Groot" entry indicates that, while Rocket Raccoon was in the previous game, he has been redesigned into a two-person fighter partnered with Groot).

More conspicuous however, is not who is new, but who is missing: The X-Men. While various rumors continue to swirl about Marvel's treatment of properties who's films belong to 20th Century Fox, it seems this will do nothing to quell the speculation, as the X-Men franchise has historically been a longstanding staple of Marvel vs Capcom. In fact, the entire Marvel vs Capcom series is the spiritual successor to 1996's X-Men vs Street Fighter.


While it may be possible that the X-Men may return in the form of DLC, or that perhaps this list is entirely innaccurate, it seems we'll just have to wait and see for an official announcement, possibly at the upcoming E3 presentations. To my knowledge, the last rumors were that the X-Men would come in a special DLC themed X_Men vs Street Fighter, with characters from both franchises (being Wolverine, Deadpool and Cyclops among them, I bet Magneto would be there but I wish it had Gambit and Rogue)

Another one would be Fantastic Four vs Darkstalkers, with Silver Surfer, Super Skrull and Doctor Doom.

@Ramiel - they are cutting them out of their AAA gaming titles. Low level games are chump change compared to this. It's sad they don't use, arguably, their best characters in the games.

X-Men and Fantastic Four are two of Marvel's classic properties. Yet, ever since the movie-rights debacle started, Marvel has been treating them as second rate characters compared to those that appear in the MCU.

and honestly guys,even if marvel wasn't trying to push the xmen away from us the roster would still suck its a capcom game they love to put a million of DLCs

I'll bet the X-Men will be in this. They've been in all the others, it'd be pointless not to include them in this one. That being said, if the X-Men aren't in it, forget it. They're my favorite Marvel property and it really sucks to see Marvel try to cut them out and put them aside

I echo other's sentiments that the MCU is influencing the game too heavily. It almost makes the roster too predictable. And frankly, there are other characters I'd like to play as that haven't been on film yet.

Keep the MCU out of my motherfukin' games and cartoons.



Games and animated series are one of the few places that can provide faithful, unique, and definitive versions of these characters without being weighed down by budgets and studio interference.


Why would you only have ONE version of these characters across all platforms?


Kids are smart enough to recognize these characters without their live-action costumes.

That's not even the problem though.

The problems start, when the developers have to promote your cinematic shit instead of focusing on making great games.

Is it really a coincidence that the Marvel roster consists of 7 traditional Avengers, 2 Guardians of The Galaxy, 2 villains with MCU appearances, then Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, and Nova.

The only non-MCU hero is Nova, even though the Nova Corps is featured in GOTG.

Fuk dat.

I miss MUA. Pure comics presentation and trivia.

This... is a shitty roster. This is the MCU v Capcom. Also if we're hellbent on doing MCU v Capcom, where the [frick] is Black Panther? Black Bolt? Any of the Inhumans? [frick] this roster, even if I'm intrigued by Ant-Man and themed DLC
