We've seen some spy pics of Tom Holland on the set of the Uncharted movie already, but Naughty Dog has now shared our first official look at the upcoming video game adaptation courtesy of a behind-the-scenes shot of the Spider-Man actor meeting the man who brought life to Nathan Drake in the games, Nolan North.

North actually told us that he hadn't been contacted about the movie in a recent interview, but things have evidently changed since then. We're not sure if he'll actually cameo in the film or has been brought on board in some other capacity, but it's great to see him involved.

Holland has clearly been hitting the gym for this role, and while he still doesn't look a whole lot like his video game counterpart, it's important to keep in mind that he's playing a much younger version of the character here.

Check out the photo below along with a couple of additional teaser pics.

Sony's adaptation will be set before the events of the first game and serve as an origin story for the beloved character, as Drake embarks on his first globe-trotting adventure alongside mentor Sully (Mark Wahlberg).

Travis Knight, Dan Trachtenberg, Shawn Levy, Seth Gordon, Neil Burger and David O. Russell were all attached to helm Uncharted at one time or another, before Venom's Ruben Fleischer was finally confirmed as director this past March.

Uncharted will also star Antonio Banderas, Sophia Ali and Tati Gabrielle. The movie is (currently) set to hit theaters on July 16, 2021.

I would love it if Nolan came in with a katana to Holland, screaming "there can be only one".

Well I guess this implies that they at least somewhat care about the source material. Which is a good sign. Hopes are still low though.

It doesn't matter if Holland's playing a young Nate here. If the movie makes any kind of decent money, they're gonna keep going with Holland.

If it fails, they drop the whole thing.

Also, Wahlberg is still Sully. Sigh.

Oh look, it's Nathan Drake and Peter Parker. Fascinating. Anyways, wake me up when we hear something about Ben Wheatley's Tomb Raider movie.

I'm not sure yet about Fleischer, but I'm weirdly excited to Holland and Wahlberg in the roles. Hopefully they give North a fun cameo too (probably not just a set visit to check on this I guess)
