UPDATE 2: First Gameplay Trailer And Details For The Amazing Spider-Man Video Game!

The first details for the video game tie-in have been revealed, and we now know that Spider-Man will return to New York for a storyline set in the movie universe, and we now have the trailer too...

IGN were lucky enough to be shown the teaser trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man earlier today by developers Beenox, and they've revealed the first details about the recently unveiled tie-in. Here are a couple of excerpts from their report, but to read them in full, be sure to click on the link below to head on over to the site.

-The teaser showed Spidey swinging around New York City in the day and night as well as fighting a giant metal spider-robot. The entire thing was made with in-game footage, and looked good enough to bring back my warm and fuzzy memories of the Spider-Man 2 game.

-Although Beenox wouldn't go into great detail, the representative said that the game is bringing Spider-Man back to New York City, packing its own story set in the movie universe, and including a new feature that will make players feel like they are Spider-Man/Peter Parker.


Sounds pretty good, eh? Hopefully, the trailer will be released sometime during this weekends New York Comic Con, while I for one am definitely hoping that it will abandon the linear nature of recent Spider-Man games and allow us to take control of the iconic Marvel superhero in the entirety of New York City! UPDATE: Oh well, look like my prayers have been answered! Newsarama now report that Doug Heder from Activision and Gerard Lehiany from Beenox confirmed that the video game WILL return to the open world style of previous tie-in's. that they are developing a game to coincide with the movie The Amazing Spider-Man. Soooooooo nothing new, open world like the previous movie games, it's in new york, never had that before, and something to make us feel like Peter Parker/Spider-man...maybe we can switch between the characters at will...won't that be fun...

Arkham city is on the mail but if this is done right I think Spidey can surpass arkham city. Let's hope so. I really want an arkham city level Spidey game. The trailer is awesome so we will have to wait and see.

This looks like it will be the first open world Spider-Man that will actually have good, up-to-date graphics. The story will probably suck because it's a movie adaptation, but if the gameplay is good then that can be forgiven.

To be honest only Spider-man game I didn't buy was Shattered. But I will def get this regardless of the score it gets. I just wish we got a developer that took the source material with love and care like Rocksteady.

Looked pretty good. The graphics for spiderman himself looked good. Hoping they improve the environment a little more. Grant it they have many months before it actually comes out.

And the gameplay trailer actually looks pretty damn good O_O. Happy to see that this game has been in development for a while. Why these people even bothered making Edge of Time is beyond me.

Keeping my fingers crossed. I wanna go back to the days of Ultimate Spidey and Spider-Man 2!!!

The feature has to do with acrobatics. So I'm thinking it doesnt have to do with motion controls.

TO ALL THE IDIOTS WHINING STILL ABOUT THE SUIT! if you think about the suit and why they changed it, will will see that it makes sence, like the boots he uses rubber on the bottom so he can run for a long time and have traction when he jumps or runs, and the Gold/Silver Eye are two masks in the movie/game so the sun doesnt get in his eye or so he can see at night. and the other changes like the Sybole are great I like the new size of it.
