The story for Arkham City takes place about eighteen months after the events of Arkham Asylum. Quincy Sharp, former warden of Arkham Asylum, has taken credit for stopping the Joker, and used that notoriety to become mayor of Gotham City. As neither Arkham nor Blackgate Prison are in any condition to hold inmates, Sharp buys out a large section of Gotham's slums and arms the perimeter with private military contractors from a group called Tyger in order to create "Arkham City". To oversee the city, Sharp hires psychiatrist Hugo Strange who appears to have his own secret agenda for the city. Batman maintains a vigil over the city, worried that the situation may get out of hand. The events of the game are set in motion when Two-Face, seeking to gain status among the inmates and other villains outside the city, devises a plan to publicly execute Catwoman. Batman decides for both the safety of Gotham and of his past relationship with Catwoman that he must stop the execution by entering Arkham City himself.

Batman: Arkham City is set to be released on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC later this year.

Meh I think the green cover throws it off. PS3's case might make it better. Maybe they will have a better one down the road, this isnt the greatest but not bad in any means.

Not much special, but very cool composition!

And I love how they're staying up with the black and white tone.

This is pretty cool, but I think it'd be really awesome if comic book games had covers that looked like comic book covers.

I never played the first one but a game like this is a great way to have all the villains together compared to a film where it just wouldnt work.

The arkham asylum a serious house on serious earth is the best comic ive ever written in terms of the balance between incredible art and really saying something with the writing. ive always seen it as better than long halloween, year one, killing joke ect.

I like the Arkham Asylum cover more. I would have liked to see something that had more of a view of the city.
Maybe with Batman at the side to give a better view like a cross between this Jim Lee picture and the cover to Jak 3. That would have been pretty tight.

can't wait for the game, could quite possibly be one of the top 5 greatest games of all time. the cover art however is not too special, but hardly bothers me.

I like it. I think the one where Batman is wiping blood with his arm is better, but that's just me. They shoulda done the one with him and Catwoman (where she is leaning against him).

@forthesakeofnow-Agree on both points you made. The first game was incredible, even if EVERY villain wasn't in it, the references they made were still intriguing.

I think the logo placement is the only real problem.

Either than that I guess this is good. I mean it's just the cover right?
You won't be staring at it when you buy it. Well maybe.

I like it, but I was expecting it to be a little different. It sort of looks like the art we've already seen. I do still like it though. Its a great style!

Yeah, a better cover could have been done but who gives a shit? The game is gonna kick ass regardless. Me personally, I'm waiting to see what the special edition holds. The one they did for Arkham Asylum was cool. I'm sure they will do one for Arkham City as well. Anybody have any kind of info on that? Oh and on a side note, Catwoman should have gotten some space on that cover too since she does factor into the story and is a playable character.

Probably a marketing decision, Catwoman is our old dear girlfriend, for us old comic book geeks, but the 10 year old average boy can only recognize Batman on the shelves.
