Microsoft hosted its Xbox-centric X018 event this weekend, showcasing an assortment of games both currently available and coming soon to the console. Among the trailers shown was one for
Kingdom Hearts 3.
The new trailer confirmed the return 100 Acre Wood, an in-game world based on the locale of A.A. Milne and Disney's animated film
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. The 100 Acre Wood had been featured in both previous
Kingdom Hearts mainline games as a sort of mini-hub where you can visit classic locations from the film and engage in mini-games. It will seemingly function similarly in
Kingdom Hearts 3 as Square Enix's Shinji Hashimoto confirmed it will feature puzzle-based mini-games.
The trailer also contained more gameplay footage from the worlds of
Tangled, Pirates of the Caribbean, and
Big Hero 6. Hashimoto also revealed there will be a cooking-based puzzle game inspired by the 2007 computer-animated film
Ratatouille.
Sora returns to 100 Acre Wood with KINGDOM HEARTS III! Check out additional gameplay revealing Sora’s team-up attacks with Rapunzel and Captain Jack Sparrow. Watch the forces of light and darkness gather as the battle for KINGDOM HEARTS approaches!
Kingdom Hearts 3 is set to release on January 29, 2019, for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
