Variety have revealed that Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia - who are currently hard at work on the screenplay for Y: The Last Man's big screen adaptation - have been tapped by Ubisoft to pen the Michael Bay produced Ghost Recon movie. The Transformers: Age of Extiction director is developing the project in the hope of also helming it, so the team behind Ghost Recon have been on the hunt for writers ever since he first committed to the movie (as he has yet to find another project after the fourth instalment of the Transformers franchise is released next summer). Federman and Scaia have also worked on both Charlie's Angels and Human Target. The video game series, "revolve around a fictional unit of the U.S. Army Special Forces that essentially operates as the President’s private army, using the latest technology to infiltrate and take down threats around the world without leaving any traces behind that they exist."

Sounds riveting. Mission impossible meets the expendables.

Never played the actual game, but sounds good. Michael Bay's work outside of Transformers has generally been solid for pure guilty pleasure movies.

Love Future Soldier. Not quite sure how it'll translate into a movie though. They should have gone with Rainbow 6 instead.

Would love to see Clark and Chavez ripping it up on the big screen. The Sum of All Fears and Clear & Present Danger aside, I just didn't get hyped up for Clark the way I did when I read the novels.

Sounds like US propaganda. The United States government reserves the right to invade your country, kill anybody we consider an opposition to our economical and political interests (or train your own army to do the dirty work) in the name of freedom and democracy (free market and capitalism). I really enjoyed Y the Last Man, but if the people that is writing the script are willing to sell themselves to Neocon projects like this, I don't know what to expect... probably all the social content of the comic book will be gone from the movie and exchanged for big boobs and endless action scenes (the murrican way!!)

Oh man... Hasn't Michael Bay ruined enough beloved franchises?

They should get Ridley Scott to direct the Ghost Recon movie. I know the chances of that happening are slim to none, but a guy can dream.

Would rather see Baldur's Gate, Planescape Torment, Dark Stone, Valkyrie Profile (animated movie), Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Gabriel Knight 3, Resident Evil 2, Unreal, Deus Ex or Blood 2 adaptation ;)

I kind of wish they would hire more proven writers and directors for these video game adaptions.

But I'm still hopeful for this to succeed.

I agree. Uncharted and inFamous are at the top of my list. Those could make fantastic films.
