Lionsgate has revealed the official logo for their upcoming Borderlands movie, which stays pretty true to the video game source material, albeit with a major infusion of color.

Production is currently underway in Hungary, and while it'll likely be a while before we get a first look at any footage or the characters, the synopsis reveals that the film will follow Lilith (Cate Blanchett) on her quest to find the missing daughter of the universal's most powerful S.O.B., Atlas (Edgar Ramirez). She'll recruit an unexpected team and embark on an epic journey where they'll be forced to battle alien monsters and dangerous bandits to find and protect the missing girl, who may hold the key to unimaginable power.

Kevin Hart recently teased, "THIS ONE IS GOING TO BE SPECIAL!!!!! Brace yourselves people....THE ACTION IS INSANE...I am beyond thankful for this opportunity.... Operation SHOCK THE 🌎 IS IN SESSION"

Horror maestro Eli Roth (The House with a Clock in Its Walls; Death Wish) is in the director's chair, utilizing a screenplay from 2x Primetime Emmy-winner Craig Mazin (ChernobylThe Last of Us)

The film's all-star cast also features Jamie Lee Curtis (HalloweenKnives Out) as Dr. Patricia Tannis, 2x Golden Globe-nominee Jack Black (Tropic ThunderJumanji: The Next Level) as Claptrap, Janina Gavankar (The League; The Way Back) as Knoxx, Ariana Greenblatt (Avengers: Infinity WarLove and Monsters) as Tiny Tina, Florian Munteanu (Creed IIShang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) as Krieg, Olivier Richters (Black WidowThe King's Man) as Krom, and Haley Bennett (The Magnificent SevenThe Devil All the Time) in an undisclosed role.

Additional parts will be filled by Gina Gershon (Face/OffBrooklyn Nine-Nine) as Mad Moxxi, Cheyenne Jackson (30 RockAmerican Horror Story) as Jakobs, Charles Babalola (The Legend of TarzanBlack Mirror) as Hammerlock, Benjamin Byron Davis (Ant-Man and the WaspParks and Recreation) as Marcus, Steven Boyer (The Wolf of Wall StreetHustlers) as Scooter, Ryann Redmond (YoungerHeels) as Ellie, comedian Bobby Lee (A Very Harold & Kumar ChristmasPineapple Express) as Larry, and Penn Jillette as a preacher.

No release date has been set just yet, but it seems probable the film will be with us in 2022.

Two-time Academy Award® winner Cate Blanchett teams up with Kevin Hart in director Eli Roth’s Borderlands. Lilith (Blanchett), an infamous outlaw with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home planet of Pandora to find the missing daughter of the universe’s most powerful S.O.B., Atlas (Ramirez). Lilith forms an alliance with an unexpected team – Roland (Hart), a former elite mercenary, now desperate for redemption; Tiny Tina (Greenblatt), a feral pre-teen demolitionist; Krieg (Munteanu), Tina’s musclebound, rhetorically challenged protector; Tannis (Curtis), the scientist with a tenuous grip on sanity; and Claptrap (Black), a persistently wiseass robot.

These unlikely heroes must battle alien monsters and dangerous bandits to find and protect the missing girl, who may hold the key to unimaginable power. The fate of the universe could be in their hands – but they’ll be fighting for something more: each other. Based on the game from Gearbox and 2K, one of the bestselling videogame franchises of all time, welcome to Borderlands.

Top notch names up to Jack black, Then I didn’t know anybody till Gina Gershon, and then not again till Bobby Lee. I can’t stand that dude, he’s from the generation of MadTv that could not get a laugh out of me. The ones that got it canceled.

Still annoyed that there's no Brick or Mordecai.

@Jaspion - Really hope we get them in this, they're essential characters.
Dave Bautista for Brick would totally be a hit for me.
Not sure about Mordecai, maybe someone like Tom Ellis? Oscar Issac?

@Blergh - bautista would be perfect as Brick.
I always pictured Johnny Depp as Mordecai, but maybe he's too old and reckless.
Oscar Isaac could be cool though.

Haven't played the games, so I don't know what to expect. The premise sounds like it could be fun though

@bkmeijer - VERY fun and crazy game/storyline.

I am a little nervous with what they're going to exclude, but the cast is pretty solid.

I never played the games but it sounds like it could be a fun flick even though Roth doesn't exactly inspire.

Also, I had never heard of Olivier Richters until about a year ago and now he has about 10 recent credits to his name. He may be the new, young, oversized, go to brute for Hollywood. Good for him.
