Two new posters from Sony Pictures upcoming Monster Hunter movie have been shared, giving us a look at the film's two main stars. Milla Jovovich and Tony Jaa are featured on their own individual posters, eaching wielding a massive weapon inspired from the game series that the film is based on.

Jovovich will play Lieutenant Artemis and is seen wielding a Great Sword, the Giant Jawblade. Jaa will play The Hunter and is holding the Great Hunter's Bow. Both are standing in a barren desert-like environment that IGN says is based "on the look of Monster Hunter World's Wildspire Wastes area."

While the Monster Hunter movie is inspired by Capcom's hit video game series, the plot will diverge from the games. The film will see Artemis (Jovovich) and her elite team of soldiers transported to a new world filled with dangerous behemoth monsters (a core pillar in the games). Artemis and her unit will team up with a mysterious Hunter (Jaa) as they try and fend off the monsters and find a way back home.

Behind our world, there is another: a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity. When Lt. Artemis (Milla Jovovich) and her loyal soldiers are transported from our world to the new world, the unflappable lieutenant receives the shock of her life. In her desperate battle for survival against enormous enemies with incredible powers and unstoppable, revolting attacks, Artemis will team up with a mysterious man who has found a way to fight back.

Monster Hunter is being helmed by Paul W.S. Anderson (Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil, Event Horizon). He's producing it alongside his long-time Resident Evil collaborators Robert Kulzer, Martin Moszkowicz, Jeremy Bolt, and Dennis Berard. The hunt will begin on September 4, 2020.
