Whiteout Red Carpet Pics And Early Review

Some nice pics of the stars of the movie, Kate Beckinsale, Tom Skerrit, Gabriel Macht and some other lovely ladies, and an early review from Empire Magazine.

The word is that this movie pretty much sucks. I have read a few online so far. Here is a very short and sweet one from Empire..

US Marshal Carrie Stetko (Kate Beckinsale) is so depressed by a spell in Antarctica brooding over her traumatic backstory that she’s on the point of quitting – then a mangled body turns up out on the ice, an axe killer attacks, she gets deadly frostbite, a suspiciously helpful FBI guy (Gabriel Macht) shows up and a mystery unravels around a Soviet plane which crashed 50 years earlier.

Though films as varied as The Thing and Encounters At The End Of The World have made much of similar settings, this is just a predictable whodunit where the heroine’s job is occasionally complicated by blizzards and difficulties staying clipped to guide-ropes in high winds. It has lovely snowscapes and Kate taking a gratuitous shower, but the trite story isn’t up to the visual splendours.

Verdict: 2/5 stars
A predictable whodunnit set in a cinematographer's paradise.

Believe me, thats a kind one. Thanks to IESB for the pics.

@Rhor, @Tea, her name is Amanda Righetti and somehow I don't think she looks like a man! She's just tall and that's my cup-o'-tea! :D!

@Boogie, She's mainly done TV work. She is now on CBS'S "The Mentalist" with Simon Baker. She was also on "The O.C." with Mischa Barton.

She was in the new Friday 13th movie and 2007's "Return To House On Haunted Hill".

She wears kinda manly clothes on "The Mentalist" 'cause she's playing a police detective on there who is a tall muscular badass female cop! That's probably why @Tea's wife thinks she looks like a man.

So there you are for...uhm...purely for research... lol

@Rhor, "The Mentalist" was the highest rated new show of the Winter-Spring season on TV in the U.S. It's extremely popular here in the States.

It stars Australian actor Simon Baker as a former con artist-fraud psychic type who goes to work for a fictional California police force, the CBI, because of his abilities of observation and hypnotism and the like and on account that his wife was killed by a serial killer, nicknamed "Red John", and he helped them with the serial murder case.

The "Red John" case is still ongoing while he works for the CBI. Baker is very entertaining in the roll!

Too bad man, afer that last movie I saw her in "Nothing but the Truth", I thought Kate was getting ready to break out into some better roles and performances. Aways liked Tom Skerritt, thought he was quite good in A River Runs Through It, and Contact, though he usually is typecast, probly for good reason, as a bit of a curmudgeon.

Anyway, eyecandy and not much more - had the potential to be quite good. Who directed this again? Was it Brett Ratner? heh...
