James Gunn Confirms Plans For WONDER WOMAN In The DCU

There was no mention of Wonder Woman in the DCU slate announcement, but DC Studios' James Gunn has now confirmed that there are plans in place for the iconic hero. But will she be played by Gal Gadot?

DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran unveiled the first part of their DCU slate a few weeks back, and while several major big and small-screen projects were announced, fans weren't given a definitive answer when it came to the status of one of the cornerstone's of the DC Comics roster: Wonder Woman.

A Paradise Lost TV series set in Themyscira is in the works, but, as far as we're aware, Diana will not feature.

Gunn did later confirm that he hadn't given Gal Gadot "the boot" as early rumors suggested, and had spoken to the actress, presumably about either staying on as or parting ways with the character.

Whether Gadot ends up returning as Wonder Woman or not, Gunn has now revealed that the character will definitely factor into his plans for the DCU, and won't be "abandoned" for too long.

Gunn still hasn't directly addressed Gadot's status, so there's a chance they're simply still trying to work out a new deal. Then again, if the DCU is going to have a new Superman and Batman, it probably makes more sense to cast a new Wonder Woman as well.

Would you guys like to see Gadot back as Diana, or would you rather the role was recast? Drop us a comment down below.

They can do better. Recast her. Fully commit to a true reboot and bury the past.

@GhostDog - in an ideal world, that would have also meant no John Cena or Viola Davis.

@GhostDog -

Unfortunately they are picking up Snyder's left overs😑

@JFerguson - I think they should’ve been cut too but I get Gunn plays FAVORITES and wants to keep his shit. It may bite him in the ass though.

Viola is too good to let go though so get that keep. It’s like not dumping Cox and D’Onofrio

@GhostDog - agreed. While her character may not be as substantial, Davis would be a much bigger loss as an actor than Gadot, Cavill, or Affleck, etc. she’s an absolute powerhouse and deserves to stay on

@JFerguson - you dont simply drop viola Davis when you have her. You just don't.

She was a bad wonder woman. She always delivered the lines like my past female partners. No emotion. No motivation. Just soulless dialogue I can never buy into💁

Then again, these women were always a figment of my imagination....

@AmazingFILMporg - I don't know. I think she was expressive in different ways in the first film. Perhaps not the second
