The CW Has No Plans To Move Forward With The WONDER WOMAN Prequel Series AMAZON

The last anyone had heard about the Wonder Woman prequel series, Amazon, The CW had put it on hold. Now, due to the success of the Wonder Woman movie, plans for the series have been officially scrapped.

Long before Wonder Woman got her debut on the big screen, the brass at The CW were looking to tell the tale of the Amazons in a prequel series. The show gained little traction, and was put on the shelf while the network figured out their next move - however, it was still said to be a project that The CW was looking to explore.

That is no longer the case. The announcement comes via a tweet from Jarett Wieselman, who was at the Television Critics Association Press meeting during The CW panel. Amazon is officially off the table, and it's due to the overwhelming success of the Wonder Woman movie.

As of right now, The CW is booming with DC properties. They will return to the network later this fall, with Supergirl on October 9, 2017.

I could have seen this being a hit. Plus it would have been another way to explore the mythology of Wonder Woman and allowed for her to team up with Donna Troy or Cassie Sandsmark.

@BlackIceJoe - Donna Troy, one of my favorite female DC characters. Very likable, and humane, despite who she is. She's suffered a lot, making her very relatable.

@Asturgis - Given she's a legacy kind of character just like Cassie I think she could fit in in any of the shows currently airing. But with Titans on pre production for streaming she might end up there as well. It'd just be about whether a connection is established.

@Asturgis - I know I'm on an island of one, but I personally like Donna more than Diana and I just wish DC would show her more.

@BlackIceJoe - No, we're both on that island bro, but I'm warning you, nothing, and I mean nothing, is gonna happen between us :)

I thought it was for another network this Amazon project.

I would be satisfied if Supergirl teased her presence just like they been doing it with Batman. Something like President Marsdin having a "wonderful greek friend". Or if they introduced Donna Troy or Cassie Sandsmark, the shows like to deal with the legacy characters after all.

And lol don't look down on The CW just because they never got to this, considering half of their DC shows have been performing on a much better course than WB's DCEU. WW's success on the big screen is great for the character, not the shared cinematic universe.

oh god, this would've been terrible. No not because it's about woman, because it's about woman on the cw. I can imagine all the dumb soap bullshit.

"she spoke to a man" *gasp*

@ALostCause -

"But, Nixia, I love you!"
"I love you too, Eristée, that's why we can't be together..."
"But, that makes no sense!"
"I know, but it's the CW, don't worry, I'll change my mind in the next episode"
"Zeus be praised, I'll go shave right now!"

DC is already winning the TV show wars by a mile, no sense in getting too greedy right now

@BlackHulk - True though I am not sure I'd use greedy. But I do think their DC streaming app could be another alternative gate for them to keep producing new shows, we'll have to see how Titans does.

@BlackHulk - Not really Netflix shows and AOS are miles better than CW Shows.
