Hans-Zimmer.com (via FilmMusicReporter) has officially confirmed that Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer will score Warner Bros. upcoming DC adventure, Wonder Woman 1984.

This will be the first time Zimmer, who created Wonder Woman's now-iconic theme, has returned to DC Films in a little over three
years, since composing the score for Zack Snyder's critically-reviled Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Following the underwhelming release of that film, he essentially retired from the superhero genre, but recently had a change of heart when he signed on to score 20th Century Fox's X-Men: Dark Phoenix. His past superhero credits also include Christopher Nolan's acclaimed The Dark Knight trilogy, Warner Bros.' Man of Steel, and Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Patty Jenkins returns to direct the highly-anticipated sequel with a script she co-wrote alongside Geoff Johns and Dave Callaham. The star cast will feature Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Pedro Pascal, Kristen Wiig, Gabriella Wilde, Natasha Rothwell, and Ravi Patel, amongst others.

Zimmer's upcoming work also includes Steve McQueen's Widows, Simon Kinberg's X-Men: Dark Phoenix, and John Favreau's live-action/CGI adaptation of The Lion King

Fast forward to the 1980s as Wonder Woman’s next big screen adventure finds her facing an all-new foe: The Cheetah.

Wonder Woman 1984 features:
Director: Patty Jenkins
Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman
Chris Pine as Steve Trevor
Kristen Wiig as Barbara Ann Minerva/Cheetah
Pedro Pascal in an undisclosed role
Natasha Rothwell in an undisclosed role
