Forbes now hails Patty Jenkins' first solo outing for Gal Gadot's Amazon Princess as the highest-grossing superhero origin movie of all time.

Wonder Woman has officially lassoed a very impressive $821.74 million worldwide, just beating Sam Raimi's Spider-Man which took in $821.7 million back in 2002. This is obviously great news for Warner Bros.' DC Films Universe, which will look to continue this level of success with Justice League later this month.

Patty Jenkins will return to helm the untitled sequel to Wonder Woman, which is set to hit theatres in 2019.

@OedipusGrex - It will probably last for a long time. Considering this record was set by Raimi's Spider-Man and since they we've had origins films like Batman Begins, Hellboy, the X-Men films, Man of Steel, The Amazing Spider-Man, Hulk, Daredevil, and the entire MCU origin films and none of them broke it; it's likely this record will stand for a long ass time.

I mean Spider-Man 1 held this record for 15 years.

@OedipusGrex - I think I know what you referring to having said that again, think of every origin story film since Spider-Man 1 to Wonder Woman. If you think any other origin story films can top it then your nuts lol

@OedipusGrex - Wait now I am confused? Are you referring to Justice League because I thought you were referring to Captain Marvel

@LEVITIKUZ -

The former, mate. Captain Marvel doesn't really look like it could threaten that record. At least to me it doesn't.

@OedipusGrex - I don't think team up films are being counted since Wonder Woman hasn't outgrossed Avengers
