Maisie Williams Can't Talk About NEW MUTANTS Rumors

Often times, when actors and actresses say they can't talk about rumors, they turn out to be true. This would seemingly indicate that Maisie Williams will play Wolfsbane in the New Mutants movie.

Three weeks ago, a number of casting choices for Fox's live-action New Mutants movie were revealed by HitFix.  Fox quickly issued a statement refuting that rumor, leaving fans in limbo. Entertainment Weekly recently caught up with Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams and asked whether she's been cast as Wolfsbane in director Josh Boone's X-Men spinoff.  Said Williams,  "I can’t say much about it at all, but I would absolutely love to be a part of it, [and] to be a part of the Marvel family.  New Mutants looks absolutely incredible and I’ve always loved the idea of spin-offs and [director] Joshua Boone is incredibly talented. So, yeah, sign me up."

Yeah...yeah MCU fanatics, technically speaking, she's not part of the Marvel family, but you know what she means.  That misnomer aside, the fact that she doesn't outright squash the rumors is a likely indication that their may be some validity to HitFix's report.  The site mentioned Wolfsbane is joined on the New Mutants team by Magik, Storm, Cannonball, Mirage and Sunspot.  James McAvoy's Professor X will also have a presence in the film.

Are you looking forward to the New Mutants film? Josh Boone just recently turned in the second script.  Fox also has two Untitled Marvel Films on its release schedule for 2017 and 2018 , could one of those be for New Mutants? SDCC is right around the corner so we could learn more about the project there if Fox has a presence.

New Mutants can be a good film. It needs to be more like Deadpool than anythig else so the inclusion of McAvoy worries me.

@TheManWithoutFear - C'mon, no way will it be like Deadpool. They're aiming for the teenie-bopper Twilight demographic (which, honestly, isn't too far from their regular x-films)

@Pathogen - No i don't mean it should be tonally like Deadpool, what i mean is that Deadpool kind of did it's own thing and didn't try to fit into the established x-continuity. Plus it tried much more to be a comic book come to life in a way the x-films don't do. I would like to see New Mutants follow in those footsteps.

@TheManWithoutFear - Ah ok. I can get with that. Even if they make it an X-Twilight film, if they keep the heart of the characters and the heart of their stories...I'd go see it.
