Activision Developing A Video Game Based On X-Men: First Class?

The latest UK edition of the Official Playstation Magazine seemingly reveals that the studio behind the Spider-Man series of games are working on one for X-Men: First Class! Check it out...

While reading an article in the latest issue of the UK edition of OPM (Official Playstation Magazine) about Activision's decision to cancel planned releases of future Guitar Hero titles and True Crime: Hong Kong.

When they went on to talk about the franchises that the company would now be focusing on, I was more than a little surprised to come across the following:

"Activision has also been keen to point to its other properties like, erm, X-Men: First Class, Spider-Man and Transformers 3."

X-Men: First Class!?! Well, that's the first I've heard about them planning a video game adaptation of the upcoming prequel! It's not hard to believe that they're holding off on revealing the game when the adaptations for Thor and Green Lantern (both out at around the same time) have so far only provided us with a handful of screenshots and a couple of brief trailers.

I'm not sure about you guys, but I for one would love to play as Magneto, Beast and a few of the other character being introduced in the movie! With production on the movie being fairly rushed, it's also a possibility that the game will be released alongside the DVD and Blu-Ray.

The only thing good about the last wolverine film was it's video game. Let's hope this is going to be just like it.

That's dumb. The movie comes out in a little less than 3 months and they're just now planning on making a game. I can see they're putting effort in to this one.

@LEEE how can you say the movie sucks if you havent seen it? It could surprise you :)have you played on X-Men Origins Wolverine Uncaged Edition? The movie sucked for most people (I didn't mind it except for Deadpool), but the storyline for the game was like 291867736 times better, plus the graphics and gameplay were brutal, the subplots were awesome, it's the first time Ive played a video game that was better than the movie it was based upon. You can even play him in his classic costume, for everyone who's been wishing for the costume.
grif will inevitably post Man VS Wolverine on this, part of a really brutal cutscene in the game.
Hopefully this game is just as good (if it's even real), playing as Magneto, Beast and Havok would be awesome if done right.
And as for the movie - Good movie/ shit adaptation
Great stuff Josh!

Maybe if they release the game after the movie it'll give them more time to create a great game instead of rushing it for the movie's release. This would also allow the audience to actually form an opinion of these First Class characters so that by the time the video game releases, fans of the movie and franchise are more likely to purchase it.
