Recently there have been a lot of statements coming out of FOX Studios regarding the X-Men: First Class movie currently in production. Earlier last year many were rejoicing as it was announced that Bryan Singer was returning to the X-Men franchise he helped launch over at FOX. March 2010,Eventually all of that fan goodwill was replaced with scorn and apprehension as Singer reportedly opted out of directing the project due to "scheduling issues" with another movie he was working on (Jack the Giant Killer: Release date TBD) with another studio. Singer now was installed as executive producer on the project with Mathew Vaughn (Kick-Ass)in the director's chair.
Vaughn brought along his colleague screen writer Jane Goldman & company. Fan reaction has been ravenous as of late regarding the project with many hoping that this latest incarnation will reset the cinematic universe of the FOX's X-Men and make it into something resembling it's comic book counterpart. The hiring of Vaughn soon after the moderate success of Kick-Ass has only ramped up the wildfire speculation on the net.
It would seem that the powers that be over at FOX may be backpedling in an attempt to avoid setting the bar too high for a film that can not possibly hope to satiate fan wonder lust and keep Singer's own skewered continuity in place.
In a Recent interview with the LA Times Vaughn made these comments regarding the reason he took over the directing chores on First Class and CB Movies in general.

"I think we've kind of crossed the Rubicon with superhero films," he explained. "It's been mined to death and in some cases the quality control is not what it's supposed to be. People are just going to get bored of it. I think [the opportunity to do one], it's only going to be there two or three more times. Then, the genre is going to be dead for a while because the audience has just been pummeled too much. It is a crowded room. It's too crowded."
Singer has commented that there are characters in it "that we're not being told about though." Hmmm, any ideas, besides Scott Summers and Jean Gray (as they were confirmed as not being a part of this)? Here's all the characters we do know: Darwin, Young Raven Darkholme, Banshee, Havok, Mystique, Azazel, Emma Frost, Beast, Xavier, Magneto and a female Angel (or potentially Storm?).
(Note: paraphrased from an online article.)
What are people supposed to think when they hear that Singer is packing to the gills, another movie full of inconsequential mutants? An oft cited irritation of CB fanboys and the general public is how all of the X-Men movies have been devoid of life and stuffed with characters taken out of their original context.
Why can't Bryan Singer just admit that his initial vision is flawed and that he has the chance to FIX a lot of what is wrong with these movies?
It's O-KAY to be wrong sometimes Bryan. Arrogance will get you nowhere.
...And finally, my last quote comes from FOX Co-Chairman/ C.E.O Tom Rothman.
"You have to make the property accessible to people who haven't experienced it. So you need to make certain adaptations, creatively, in order to open up the property a little bit. And that's where I think the fans feel that we missed a turn some place."
I'm pretty sure that the average fanboy and joe blow understand a fair amount of tampering with this intellectual property. Most people take issue with the "HACK-EYED", "DUMB DOWNED" disregard and what appears to be a visual lack of creativity that these things roll off the assembly line with.
"Whiny Cyclops anybody?"
"Does anybody really think that in Singer's X-Verse, Wolverine couldn't just take Jean Grey away from Scott with a crook of his adamantium claws?"
All I'm really trying to say is that people want a GOOD MOVIE.
The first RULE of ENTERTAINMENT that has been in place since the time of the ROMAN EMPIRE is simple: "GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT."
Shoving your "movies" with an ass load of inconsequental mutant ripoffs just to secure rights on as many characters as possible is just plain DUMB. It's not GOOD BUSINESS.
..and Finally, I now repost a video from Youtube (Fairplay law anyone)that lit a fire under some of my readers and resulted in me getting lambasted and verbally lashed for "Not Understanding the X-Men."
WHAT BRYAN WANTS ... BRYAN GETS.
shadowgeek10 returns to the shadows ...but this is not over by a DAMN site.
