Bryan Singer On Peter Dinklage's Character In X-MEN: DOFP - "He's Not CGI"

We heard Dinklage will be playing the main baddie, and there's a rumor that is Boliver Trask, but nothing has been confirmed yet. But now director Bryan Singer drops a few hints about who the Game Of Thrones actor may be playing in an interview with IGN..

When it was announced that Peter Dinklage would be joining the already very impressive cast of X-Men: Days Of Future Past, many assumed he'd be playing Alpha Flight member Puck, but Bryan Singer would seem to have dismissed that entirely in his latest interview with IGN. He also drops a few interesting hints about what we can - or rather can't - expect to see. Some speculated that Dinklage may only be providing the voice and/or facial mo-cap for a completely CG character, but that is not the case. “He’s not going to be a CGI character,” said Singer. “He’ll be himself. Not that he’ll be playing Peter Dinklage, he’ll be playing this character. It’s not a shy character. He’s just such a phenomenal actor; I’m a huge fan of Peter’s and Game of Thrones. He was my first choice and I was really happy [about the casting]." So not shy, and not CGI..sounds like he may well be Trask, but there are plenty of other possibilities. The Jack The Giant Slayer director also said that he was negotiating with another actor for a role in the movie at the moment, and that we can expect announcements about that - as well as some “younger” characters - soon.

Time travel is going to make Bill Dukes bald/black/tall Trask into a white dwarf with hair?
sure does sound like he cares about fixing the continuity!

This is hella pretentious. Singer is obviously the ONLY one impressed with this casting choice. Feels like it's going to be really stupid when announced.

I thought he was thought to be the creator of the Sentinels?

I think it's so stupid and immature everyone thought he was going to play Puck just because Puck is short. As if Puck is in any sort of way a popular X-men character or worthy antagonist (bad guy at all for that matter).

He's an amazing actor so he deserves whatever role he got.

I still think he's Puck. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Puck become a villain only to turn back to good? I know Morph did that in the animated series.

Could he be Jason Wyngarde (Mastermind)?

Well that's a shame. Not to hate on Dinklage, I just think he'd make a better CGI character. He might look silly as Trask. I don't know if I be able to take him seriously.

@Carl Emma Frost being a teenager in the 70s in X-Men Origins: Wolverine didn't stop Vaughn from putting her in X-Men: First Class which was in the 60s and she was in her 30s.

And everyone quit bitching about Bill Duke being Bolivar Trask in X3, he was barely in the movie and his character in the movie had absolutely nothing to do with the character in the comics. Are ya'll gonna bitch about Tom Hardy playing Bane when Robert Swenson already did a really crappy version of him?

I'd totally forgot Dukes was even in the movie, so I doubt people would care who originally played Trask, let alone his ethnicity.

It's not like it hasn't happened before...or did some of you forget that Tommy Lee Jones replaced Billy Dee Williams as Harvey Dent?
