flames809 - 4/14/2011, 5:37 PM
darkclark- with out him doing his x-men movies and making the audience like it, like really like it we wouldn't have gotten all these other cbm.

I didn't read all of it, but what I did read was interesting. I'll probably finish reading this tomorrow. Really nice find Josh.

@Darkmatter: Blade's success helped get X-Men a movie, and X-Men was a major influencer for future CBM's.

FINALLY!!! a decent interview!! this was very good. thanks for posting it up...way better than all those half assed stupid question interviews that have been onthe net for the past 3 months...i like what he says about x3...yeah, sorry movietheaterlad but that film sucked! i disagree with first class "having a built in audience", first class literally has a divided audience at best right now and when he says he's coming full circle with the characters in first class, he should use the word characters sprarringly because the only returning characters are magneto, X and mystique...i got a love-hate relationship for this guy but this interview makes me like him a little bit more...all i got to say is "YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE CHANGED ROGUE'S PERSONALITY AND ARROGANTLY CALLED THE NEW FILM FIRST CLASS!!!!!"

@ Darkmatter VERY TRUE!! and before that Tim Burton's batman...and before that, superman by richard donner!!! in my eys bryan singer didn't usher in anything new...batman begins was more revolutionary to me...x1 felt like a richard donner film...which is okay...it's the whole reason why i like it...

Why the hell is Singer still allowed near CBMs?

Guy made SUBPAR Xmen films...and a massively SHITTY Superman film that killed the franchise for 4 years.

He should be on the unemployment line.

He admitted in 2006 he doesn't read comics, hell he used to be completely OPPOSED to CBMs. He doesn't connect with fans and doesn't care about the source-material and only cares about his own 'vision'

Singer seriously blows.

@grif- Thank you my friend.

Singer is a hack. Dude sucks. He still owes me $10.50 for that crappy, boring emo-hued Superman film i paid for a ticket.

@ Darkmatter "What happens to a Toad when it gets struck by lightning?" i always wanted to know why they put that in the screenplay...is there something special that happens to a toad? if not, then that line is just plain horrible...almost embarrassing...

"In Superman's case he's a tough one to write for because he's so virtuous and indestructible"

WTF? Serious? Guy wears a brightly colored suit and flies around and you're saying that's 'tough' to write for?

No, the reason it was so tough for you was because YOU COPIED DONNER YOU FU*KING IDIOT! Oh and because you aimed your damn film at the female devil wears prada audience and you completely neglected MEN who SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE TARGET AUDIENCE YOU LAME FU*K! You admitted that you aimed film at WOMEN. How the FU*K did that seem like a good idea? Oh yeah neglect the target audience- MEN for what should have been an action/hero film and instead cater it to the devil-wears-prada WOMEN audience. You FU*KING ASSHOLE!

Oh and don't blame the Superman character being too "virtuous and indestructible" for your own pathetic 'visions' you hack of a director!

superman the movie & superman 2 started it all, then superman 3 & 4 turned it shit.

batman & batman returns came out, comic book movies were cool again.

batman forever & batman & robin ruined the comic book movie genre,it took blade & then the x-men to revitalize it.

and the rest is history.

singer did usher the comic book movie craze yes they were comic movies before x men but is it a coincidence that after x men spiderman was finally made?

i think not

x men did'nt start comic book movies but it did usher the cbm in the past 10 years plus

lets not forget batman and robin killed the comic book movie craze x men brought it back

blade is not really seen a a super hero tho and was not a big budget movie

I wonder what would have happened...had Jon Favreau gone the 'Singer-route' and aimed his Iron Man films at the 'devil wears prada female audience' we would have gotten a pretty shitty and boring Iron Man franchise.

Comicbook fans expect to see their heroes in ACTION-oriented films...films that aren't harbored by "The Devil Wears Prada" bullsh!t. I still can't believe he admitted that.

LP4 - 4/14/2011, 6:21 PM
@P862010- Sorry dude but i don't give a crap what Singer helped usher. He still blows.

Dude RAPED Superman on the big screen. He made Superman into a wimpy, punching bag for Kevin Spacey...er...Lex Luthor sorry. ;P

Fans waited 20 years for a new Superman film and all we got was Superman being kicked and strangled by Kevin Spacey. WOW.

Also I still say his X-men films weren't all that great. They could have been soooo much more.

i missed out supergirl, swamp thing & howard but they don't really matter.

@ grif

lmao, superman 3 had one good section its was evil dark superman vs clark kent in the scrapyard.

the rest was shit.

@ flames809

i just said that, blade & x-men kicked started all other film studios to start purchasing comic rights.

comic book movies make lots of money, they started a new genre of film.

the comic book movie.

P862010 SAID "blade is not really seen a a super hero tho and was not a big budget movie " SAYS WHO?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! $45,000,000 for a 1998 film is a big budget film! what are you 12 years old? you know, i respect people's opinion...so i'll give you mine...i don't like you after that statement!

@marvel- The scrapyard fight between Clark and Superman was the best thing about the Donner Superman films...well that and the parts with Superman versus Zod in the streets of Metropolis from Superman II

The rest of the donner stuff was too boring and campy for me. Lex was campy...the jokes were campy...I chalk it up to the times those films were made but they don't hold water for today's audience for certain. I also wish they had used more of Superman's actual comic book rogues in those films, all they used from the comics were Lex and Zod. Brainiac, Darkseid, Metallo, Parasite, Toyman...nothing were used by Donner.

Smallville tries but they fu*k it up all the time.

Now we are getting another Zod story for the Superman reboot. I can't handle this sh!t anymore...NOBODY CAN EVER GET A FIRM GRASP OF SUPERMAN.

Honestly, none of the Superman movies ever made me happy. Batman films actually USE his entire rogues gallery or at least most of it. BATMAN films actually have action and fighting.

Superman films are boring, stale and Singer made the shit worse, he dropped Superman into a bad dark chasm that is nearly impossible for him to get out of.

I'm worried audiences will be more cynical about Superman films after that.
fullmetal
fullmetal - 4/14/2011, 6:38 PM
lol, the other day another horrible comic film was on the spanish channel...the shaq film "steel"...my god..that was horrible...i appreciate some of singer's work when i think about that piece of crap LOL @ lp4..to each his own..check out superman 2: the richard donner cut, it had tons more action than the original...it had the most ation out of all the superman films...just a suggestion...
golden123
golden123 - 4/14/2011, 6:47 PM
@LP4: Superman three wasn't a Donner film. Only Superman I and II were. It's a similar situation to the old Batman series with Burton and Schumacher, but with the Superman films (not including Returns) there were three directors total. Donner directed the first film and over 75% of the second film before getting the boot, because of difference with the producers, then a guy named Richard Lester completed the film, basically using the same story, but he reshot most of the scenes, so that in the end, only 25% of Donner's footage was used. Lester than went and made Superman III then a person named Sidney Furie directed Superman 4.

What a [frick]ing douchebag, Im also blown away by the fact that he is still doing CBMs. [frick]ing asshole mfing piece of shit shitty selfish director

And the comments that his X-men did this or that are bullshit. Someone else would have done such a better job at it. We would be having X-men 4, 5, not [frick]ing X-men origins films or first-class
