The third solo-Wolverine film and second outing for the James Mangold/Hugh Jackman combination will arrive in theaters on March 3, 2017. David James Kelly wrote the initial draft of the script, which was subsequently re-written by Michael Green (Smallville, Heroes, Green Lantern). Filming is expected to start in early-2016. The Wolverine 2 will reportedly mark Hugh Jackman's last on screen performance as the X-Men's most popular character. Additional, unconfirmed rumors speculate that the film will be based on the Old Man Logan comic, penned by Mark Millar and penciled by Steve McNiven in 2008.
