Lauren Shuler Donner Offers Brief Updates On X-Men 4 And Deadpool

Deadpool, a First Class sequel, and an update on a possible "X-Men 4".

Lauren Shuler Donner, who has produced all of the X-Men movies, good and bad (I'm looking at you "The Last Straw"... er, "The Last Stand"), has given an update in a recent interview about the fate of Fox's future "X-Men" movies while promoting the media day for the Blu-Ray release of "X-Men: First Class".

In regards to "X-Men 4", despite having Bryan Singer signed on as a director for that and "X-Men 5" (!), don't expect it to be in the forseeable future. She said the following on the site:
"There could be an X4, but I think for now we don’t want to saturate the market," she said. "I think there was such a good response to First Class that if we go forward in that universe, we'll probably make a sequel [to First Class]."

A "Deadpool" spin-off, though, seems like it is, surprisingly, the most likely to be made next. Here's what the site said:

Pre-production on X-Men Origins: Deadpool is moving forward, with director Tim Miller busy conceptualizing the film’s aesthetic. "In the next couple of months we'll be presenting some things to the studio," said Shuler Donner. "Deadpool is going to be way different from any of the other X-Men movies. It's very crazy, more R-rated."

What do you guys think?

I have a feeling Deadpool will probably be made as an R-film, be edited down to a PG-13 for theatrical release, then get a special "Unrated" version when it hits DVD/BluRay.

If it gets made, that is.

It won't work without Ryan renolds. Hopefully he'll be to busy making a good Deadpool movie that he wont have time to make another bad green lantern.

i'd rather watch a film set after x-men 3 than x-men first class 2.

deadpool should be r-rated but thats not gonna happen,i wouldn't be surprised if we never see a deadpool movie.

naaahhh, as much as I like Deadpool I'm afraid they're going to mess him up just like what happened to Origins.

what de hey?! how much longer are they putting off X4 for..?? even as i write this down, both Berry and Janssen ain't gettin' any younger and cuter. and what about Stewart and McKellen..?? a cupla years from now...can they still pull it off as powerful mutants..convincingly..??

i think the First Class sequels that can WAIT. especially if they wanna put jean, scott and perhaps ororo in, they gotta wait til both mcavoy and fassbender age a bit more, don'tchathink..??

this donner woman..ugghh...

I don't have any problem with actors over 40 reprising their roles as younger superheroes for X4, but honestly with First Class 2, Wolverine, and Deadpool coming up there is only so much X-Men the public will watch. It would be better to wait 6 or 7 years until First Class 3 or whatever it is called and recast the actors or use the age-reducing technology of Tron Legacy and the Last Stand on the older actors(it should be more believable by then).
