My Full In-Depth Defense of The Bryan Singer/Matthew Vaughn X-Men Movies

Not a lot of people on this site are really fond of Bryan Singer's X-Men films and Matthew Vaughn's First Class. However, while I don't love all the X-Men films and I can admit they have problems, I like them. Here's my full in-depth defense of the X-Men, X2, First Class, and Days of Future Past.

@RandalCabbage - You're right, what makes them good is that they are competently written, directed, have an amazing score and wonderful acting - well, from everyone except Zoe Kravitz (or so I'm told).

Great post :)

I think it is a loud minority that doesn't like them. I think they're good also

That said, knowing it is very unlikely, I'd like to see them start again. Trying to do it with Days of Future past, but it's not the same

The X-Men films hate is so funny to me. Every time it's "Revert the Rights, this movie will blow" then it comes out and everyone says "X-Men films are back on course."

No, bad fanboy. These movies have been back on course since 2011. Out of 8 films, 2 were bad. Thats 6/8. And of those 6, half of them are of the best comic book movies in existence.

@Quicker - lmao, people hating on you making an article about x-men is article, you have freedom of opinion to defend them just as people have the right to bash them. There called opinions but hardcore obsessive over analyzing fans will not except people actually like these films.

There was a time when Singer's X-Movies were consistently the best CBM's and could compete with Batman, Superman and Spider-Man.

X-Men: The Last Stand sucked, but it was still better than Superman Returns and 300, which makes it the best CBM of 2006.

First Class was the best CBM of 2011 despite competition from Thor and The First Avenger, even though it bpmbed at the box office.

The Wolverine was better than Thor 2, MoS, and Iron Man 3, which makes it the best CBM of 2013.

The only reason why the X-Movies aren't at the top anymore is that Marvel Studios stepped up their game with higher quality and comic accuracy.

If FOX adopted the same strategy, then they'd be on top again, since the X-Men comics have always outclassed the Avengers stories in both quality and popularity. Deadpool is a perfect example of this.

There's a clear trend here, and if Singer doesn't start taking the comics and characters seriously, then we'll never see a real X-Men movie and Fox won't be able to compete with Marvel/Disney and WB/DC.
