This year's edition of the brazilian Comic Con Experience (CCXP17), in São Paulo, had in this afternoon (12-08-2017) hosted a 20th Century Fox panel, with the presence of Robert Rodriguez (to talk about ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL), Dylan O'Brien to talk about MAZE RUNNER last movie and also the presence of Josh Boone, director of the 'NEW MUTANTS' upcoming movie, the screenwriter Knate Lee and the two brazilian cast members Alice Braga, who plays Dr. Cecilia Reyes and Henry Zaga, who plays Roberto Da Costa a.k.a. Sunspot. During the panel, they have shown an exclusive teaser to the audience.

According Josh Boone, that was just for the CCXP audience for now, so we'll just have access to a description written by the editors of 'Omelete' website, organizers of CCXP.
We warn you that the description may have some SPOILERS, so... You're warned:

The young mutants find a hidden place at the hospital where they're being held. There they found a 'lies detector' and they think it will be fun to use it to get to know each other better.

The first to sit in the chair, Roberto da Costa aka Sunspot, says he has already got many girls. The machine points out he's lying, so he confesses that he never had anyone. Then we see a short frame showing a little bit of his powers. In the panel, Henry Zaga stated that the character suffers an accident still in Brazil and is sent to the hospital commanded by Dr. Cecilia Reyes (Alice Braga).
Then, each character faces the lie detector, and some of their powers are shown. In one passage, Maisie Williams growls as she begins her transformation into Lupine.

The whole scene has a very 'youthful' mood, despite the darker tone in the movie. They're curious and provocative with each other, but piece by piece a sense of 'safe zone' shows up. They seem to understand that they can be themselves with each other, despite their traumas of the past. This is a group of tragic heroes.
However, who stands out in the scene is Magik, character played Anya Taylor-Joy. With sarcasm, she uses the lie detector and says that she's in that place 'cause she killed 18 men. One by one. In a moment of more action, she seems to conjure up her famous Soulsword and attacks Danielle Moonstar aka Mirage.

Other brazilian website, 'Universo X-Men', added some details to Magik's powers displayed. They said that her arm is covered with metal, just as it is in the comics, and the visual effect of this is look-a-like the Colossus powers displayed in the original X-Men trilogy.
So, this is it. We hope to see the next trailer soon. "The New Mutants" is coming out at April 13, next year and it has being sold as a superhero horror movie. During the panel, director Josh Boone also said that movies like The Shining, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, A Nightmare on the Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, The Breakfast Club and Stephen King's works were main inspirations for the tone and the character dynamics, without lose the comic accuracy. He also reaffirmed that  the Demon Bear saga is the main material source for the movie.

Hey folks (and editors):

https://cinema.uol.com.br/noticias/redacao/2017/12/08/novos-mutantes-alice-braga-sera-uma-especie-de-professor-xavier-em-filme.htm

It's a video with Alice Braga (Cecilia Reyes) and Henry Zaga (Sunspot) in Portuguese. My free translation (from the video, not the text) follows:

When asked if she was 'Kinda the Professor Xavier of the New Mutants", Alice Braga giggling said: "I KNEW you were going to ask me this!... Other difficult thing in doing this movie is not giving up any spoilers (...) My character has this function (similar to Xavier), of guiding them (...) The discovery of their powers send them to this institution where I'm the caretaker figure. And she (Cecilia) is the person who organizes it, she's not a maternal figure, but she is the boss, moreso like a guide. But there are many surprises in the movie (Zaga nods in agreement). Josh Boone, who did "The Fault in Our Stars" and worked with young actor, he's a great director of actors, and with this movie he did a great parallel with the youth and the mutants. One of them talks about the rejection, of being different and overly auto-critical, not accepting themselves. Josh put all of this in the movie and I think it'll connect with the young audience. Then it was interesting for me to ask the director about how I could guide them, mutants (...) About my character, Josh gave me freedom to elaborate more, so I connected more with him than with the comic books. I did take a look a the comics to get the personality (of Reyes) but I consulted more with the director to get to know how I could be a better guide to the mutants, a role very different from my previous ones".

(End free translation)

Then the presenter and both actors joked about how their names ("Alice", "Braga" and "Zaga") were usually pronounced outside of Brazil, with Zaga telling them that he usually corrects everyone about the right pronunciation of Alice's first name.

Well: she's a guide, got it :P
