Shawn Ashmore talks X-Men: First Class

The X-Men trilogy star has spoken out about Bryan Singer's return to the film franchise with "X-Men: First Class."

Shawn Ashmore, who played Iceman in the first three films, admitted that it is unlikely he will ever get to reprise the role but has not given up hope.

He recently told Movieline: "Those films are always a blast to make, and working with Bryan is amazing. It’d be awesome to do another X-Men film, and it’s too bad that there probably won’t be a role for me, but who knows?"

"The universe is huge and they keep making those films. You never know - hopefully, I’ll get the chance to play Iceman one more time."

Ashmore went on to say that fans have nothing to worry about when it comes to Singer's take on the X-Men's early days. "Bryan is clearly very, very passionate about the X-Men films and the characters, so you know he’s going to do a good job with whatever the story’s going to be."

So [frick]ing what, so was BUFFY!

Anyway, if they went and made the real deal ORIGINAL X-MEN, it wouldn't have any of the old cast!!

A great stand-alone X-MEN movie!!

ASHMORE's still good for X-MEN 4 though!!

As much as I want to see it, theres no way we will see the original 5 with Singer directing.

So a 30 year old would be believable as the youngest member of the X-Men, who is supposed to be in his teens. That makes no sense. And Sarah Michelle Gellar was not 30 when she did Buffy. She's only 32 now, and Buffy was on years ago.

If Ashmore improved his acting, I'd support him for X-4. But that isn't going to happen for a while anyway.

Dogs: No, we won't. Because Ratner made it impossible to include Angel.

Oh, and I never liked Ashmore as Iceman - if First Class is some sort of reboot then they'll need to go for a teenager obviously but otherwise...

Dave Franco for Bobby Drake/Iceman

"Bryan is clearly very, very passionate about the X-Men films and the characters"

Which is why he left the X-men films in the hands of Brett Ratner, and Fox, while destroying the superman franchise. Yeah, that's a caring director in my book.

JoshWilding - 1/16/2010, 5:32 PM
LEE: He's a great actor! I've only seen him in the most recent season of Scrubs but he's also had small parts in Superbad and Milk! I'm telling you man, he has the perfect acting skill to play an amazing Bobby Drake! :) Not sure where DDD is...

Six Feet Under is excellent! I watched all 5 seasons in about 10 days and the last episode has to be the best finale to a TV show I have ever seen! You can get S1-5 in one boxset and its worth every penny bud!
