It was a very nice movie. Better than the mediocre movies that Marvel Studios release...the best superhero movie since Batman Begins,if you discart The Dark Knight from the genre(wich I believe is the right thing to do)

This was the best James Bond movie in years! Instead of gadgets he had magnetic power! Wish it had made more money though I am afraid they will reboot after this one.

Thor was the closest movie to the source material I have seen except for the first Superman movie. Big Thor fan and was very pleased. It will be the biggest grossing superhero movie 2011.Cap will be close to beating it domestic. I just wanna see now if Cap has better overseas totals than expected. Hey, it has to beat Green Lanterns overseas totals.

@Murdock & Bod...that piece of crap sucked. There's nothing I hate more than the cop out writing of; Lets take an immensely powerful character and take his powers away for the bulk of the movie, then give them back to him for the grand finale. I mean how excited for a superman film would you be if the director said we're going to strip superman of his powers, but don't worry, he'll get them back in the end for the big fight. I mean, I keep hearing the word "epic". Really? Epic? Volstagg gets hit once and he needs help to limp off the battlefield? Visually, the art was fantastic...for about the 5 minutes they showed asgard. I needed subtitles for fandril. Oh and of course, Thor and Jane fall in love with barely just a few scenes together. And what source material did it follow? Donald blake was a completely different person, Jane was a scientist, not a nurse, oh and she bossed around her professor. Who, while being an expert, she seems to know more and be more passionate than him. Nah, I'm just joking. At least in the movie, they showed how much Thor loves midgard, right? That's part of the source material. Or was it SHIELD finding his hammer and keeping in from him?

Though I haven't seen Captain America yet, X-men is the only one of the remaining 3 that had rational things happen in connection to what was taking place on screen. There were no plot devices to force something to happen, everything was based off of cause and effect the way it did in Nolan's Batman movies and the way it does in any other movie that is well made. X-men had it's faults and at times you could sense the pressures of the tight filming schedule but the movie was made on the same solid foundation that any good movie is. It was made to be a good movie featuring comic book characters and I think that is the best way for film makers to approach these properties.

imo First Class was the best CBM this year. But people who chose Thor above it are pretty justified too.

THE FUNNY THING IS THAT BEFORE SUMMER STARTED AND EVERYONE MADE THEIR PREDICTIONS OF WHICH CBMS WERE GOING TO BE BEST GL WAS UP HIGH WHILE X MEN FIRST CLASS WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE ON THE LIST AT ALL AND NOW HOW THE TABLES HAVE TURNED AND ALL THE HYPOCRITE FAN BOYS NOW ARE IN LOVE WITH FIRST CLASS...except for those certain few i guess.

@BTB...I guess I might be one of those people except I don't consider myself a hypocrite because I hadn't seen the movie yet. So if I thought 1st class would suck based on previous Xmen films, but loved it after seeing it. I'd call that honest.

@Maculis, do you live on this site?
Bodwulf
Bodwulf - 7/24/2011, 6:51 PM
@Maculis They went by the Mark Protosevich series of Thor comics with heavy influences of the older comics.Asgard was about 40% of the film. The shield parts were to tie it in with the Avengers.
If you did not like it that is fine with me. I loved it and am not one of those who has to have everyone else like it. Roger Ebert hated it too. I could care less. I will not berate you or try to convince you it is good. I hate onions and no amount of talk would convince me to eat them.
Thor is your onion. You don't like it. Thats cool.

@Bod...I'm not trying to convince you of anything. But you do realize you're putting your opinions on a message board. The reason people do that is so others can then comment on those opinions. If you don't want people to comment on them, don't make them public. But I don't think I was Berating you if that's what you're implying. But I will give you some advice. If you're going to post your comments, be prepared for some intellectual debate. Someone may change your mind or you may change someone elses. But whatever you do, don't whine about someone not agreeing with you.

@Bigdawg...what do you mean? I've probably commented less than 10 times this year. And most have come the last day or two.
