X- Men First Class Continuity Theory

X- Men First Class Continuity Theory

Trying to fix fox´s continuity mess up, i came up with some theories i would like to share, some mine, some ive read. But it solves most problems. MAYOR SPOILERS.

Well, first i would like to say that some of this theories have been pointed out by others, what im trying to do is recopilate them and add some of my own, and all this theories are just fiction to make things coherent in our fanboy heads, because the sad thruth is that fox, just didnt give a f*ck about that.

So ill list miscontinuities, and the solution i give them:

XAVIER.

The problem is xavier ends in First Class invalid and with hair and in Origins, he can walk but without hair. The only explanation i could find is just as emma fost could make the Russian believe she was having sex with him, while she was in the couch, The real Xavier could be inside the "plane" and the one we saw a kind of "Projection". This might sound as an easy way out but anyone ho saw the series or read the comics know, that many times when Xavier projected himself in other minds he could walk inside his mind and the others, so myabe it is just the same thing here. Know with the hair theres plenty of time for him to loose it between movies. The same argument could work at the moment they go jor little Jean grey.

EMMA FROST.

As someone already said the emma frost in Origins could be the child of Emma frost( First Class) and Riptide. So how could this work? Well lets say Emma and Riptide hook up and have Little Emma and Silverfox, while mystique and azazel have nightcrawler, Magneto meanwhile could meet the mother of quicksilver( i dont know who she is). In that way it would make sense, but the most interesting fact here is that when Wolverine rescues the mutants there is Quicksilver and a guy who can turn into a Tornado, so maybe im imagining too much but maybe we can assume, silverfox, little emma and th e guy who turns into a tornado are riptides and emmas child.

BEAST.
Well is a pretty obvious answer the image inducers and its change of fur appearance as in the comics could be an evolution to its mutation.

STRYKER. ( some people dont know this)
The one who appears in First Class is W. Strykers dad, this is no really a theory but a fact but somepeople dont know this.

CYCLOPS.
This is pretty much a confirmation that havok is scotts older brother in the movies because cyclops has a small cameo in Fist Class( pay attention when charles is in cerebro, a children with glasses) and in there his younger so it fits perfectly although it doesnt fit the comics.

Right know i can not remember the other continuity issues some fanboys argued but put them on the comments section and ill try to answer to them in the best way. Im Latin so thank you for having patience with my wirting.

I hope this theories were of your liking. :D

Yeah but if cyclops was alive during First Class, then he would have been in his 40's during the original movies. And what about the fact the when Prof X goes to get Jean, he's still buddy buddy with Magneto? Also, how would a Hispanic Riptide and White Emma have a Native American child (Silverfox). And I never saw this, but I've read on here plenty of times that Hank is supposedly talking to Sebastian Shaw in the interview/cameo in X2. Which would be impossible, if that's true.. And also Moria is not 40 years older in X3.

I know you're trying, but I gotta make it a little harder on you, lol.

here's a big continuity error you over looked. if Xavier and Magneto's friendship comes to an end in First Class (1962), then why are the two of them still friends when they first meet Jean Grey in the opening scene of X-men 3?

i get the fact that these movies are BASED ON the x-men characters rather than being a film adaptation of the comics continuity. but when you make that trade off you must now make sure not to deviate from your own continuity you've already laid down with previous films. I'm sorry, but that's what ruined this movie for me.

There are 40 years between First Class and X-Men 1. Magneto has switched sides. Beast has temporarily looked normal. Xavier has temporarily been able to walk. All of those things have happened SEVERAL times in the comics, and 40 years is plenty of time for those things to happen.

@ jbak368

Yeah all that and more has happened in the comics, but how does the mainstream audience know that? All they know is FC xavier goes limp and him and Mags are not cool, ten years later in Origins he can walk, and sometime around the same time him and Mags and older, X can still walk, and they are friends again trying to recruit a child Jean Grey, who is clearly older then Cyclops in the 3 movies (Jamke or whatever her name is) yet cyclops is already in late High school/early college.

Too much, man, too much.

Or you could just listen to the producers who said X3 and Wolverine are no longer canon since they're shit. That reduces about 80% of the continuity errors right there, and a general audience probably wouldn't notice or wouldn't care about the rest.

@ACira:
Why is it that every time I read an articles comment section you seem to be the only voice of reason. I'm so with you on that, and I've said more times than Mystique says "mutant and proud" in First Class. X3 and Origins are not canon even if the producers still would say otherwise, why can't we as fans just overlook these two abominations and say that Xmen and X2 are the only ones that exist in the same continuity as First Class?

I know it's not as good as a reboot but it's getting there and futhermore(now I haven't seen xmen and x2 in awhile so bare with me) I don't remember anywhere in those two films where they state that they are set in the noughties, but I'm probably remembering wrong here. But if not, I think they could easily be said to take place in the early nineties. Which would make it more plausible that the young storm and young cyclops we see during the cerebro sequence are the ones that we get to know in x-men and x2 in their early to mid-thirties.

Now I'm just saying that this could be a possibilty, but believe me, I would have wanted a sequel so much more than having all these continuity problems.

@ACira: did the producers really dismiss those 2 from being canon. Give me a link. I wanna read that.

the movie is good, but both the comic & the movie continuity is f*cked.

two emma frosts

cyclops is havok older brother.

professor x walking with no hair at the x-men origins wolverine

silver fox & emma frost are sisters in x-men origins wolverine.

moria mctaggert ages well from x-men first class - x-men 3.

professor x & magneto meeting jean at the start of x-men 3.

@ bohemiben

if charles & erik are teaching the kids how to control their powers in x-men first class.

that means they're students.

I know you're just trying to make reasons as to why the continuity is screwed up, but the bottom line is that all of your explanations are just guesses, and nothing that actually happened in any of the movies. i really mean no offense, but you can't make up your own plot points and say, "okay, thats why this is the way it is." if it isn't said in the movie, then it didn't happen. bottom line.

perfect example is your Beast explanation. Yes, the obvious answer would be that he was using an image inducer in X2, because they used to use that all the time in the comics back in the day. Thats the comics though. In no X-Film did they ever even mention the existence of image inducers, so you can't just assume thats what it is. y'know?

The real Xavier could be inside the "plane" and the one we saw a kind of "Projection".

OK THATS POSSIBLE BUT THEN HOW DOES XAVIER END UP IN A WHEEL CHAIR IF YOUR TAKING THAT AWAY THAT HE GETS PARALIZED ON THE BEACH?

@ACria really!?! X-men 3 and Wolverine aren't canon because the producers say they're shit!?! give me a f**king break! that's the same type of bullshit you get when a spoiled kid gets two strikes in a back alley baseball game then demands a "do over" cause the sun was in his eyes or some shit.

Actually if you watch the first X-Men and X2 its 15 years after Wolverine lost his memory. So although it says "not too distant future" it would actually be set in 1994 as Wolverine lost his memory in 1979 when the three mile island incident occured. That makes Scott around 30 in the first film which is accurate. This also means Jean would already be at Xavier's school by the time Scott got there. As for the walking thing and Beast we have to remember there are AT LEAST 10 years between First Class and Origins when the Prof meets Scott. AND even more years between First Class and X2 so who knows what could happen between them.

Shocker- but... it's not a reboot.

And i agree with TaskmasmasterSummerCamp. It's such a cop out to disregard two movies in the series because they weren't good.

Ignore 3 and Wolvie. That's all I have to say.

Well first of all First Class was a great movie; and yes the continuity errors irked me but not just because it doesn't fit perfectly with the other movies but because it's like they tried to follow some parts of the continuty and they basically said [frick] it we'll ignore these other parts because they mess up our story. Sure it makes more sense if you don't consider Origins and X3 cannon but still there are plenty of inconsistencies with just X1 and X2. I guess you can dismiss the Beast cameo in X2 with the image modifier thing but I mean it was implied that Prof X and Magneto started the school together and that Cerebro was built with Magneto's help, also Magneto's helmet was his own creation. I can't look at it as a complete reboot because it followed certain parts of the established storylines and also Wolverine makes an appearance so it's not really a reboot. In the end I think continuity was sacrificed for better story telling and that's really a good thing. I like the story that was told so I hope they do go with this new arc for a while. Maybe retool the Wolverine movie to fit the bill; Ignoring X3 would definitly give more freedom to future films but really I'd say just look at this movie with an open mind.
JHowlett
JHowlett - 6/18/2011, 2:05 AM
also Prof X doesn't say Storm Cyclops and Jean were his first students he says they were SOME of his first students which probably means they got recruited after his original team.

@ Frogman, you are making the most sense here.
First Class is 1963; the Three Mile Island crashed in 1979. This means that, 6 years prior to that, the formation of Team X, is 1973 (fitting in with the Vietnam War, though this tidbit really has no relevance). So in 1979, Scott looks a maximum of say 17, 18; This means he'd be born in 61/63, if not later-but hang on, doesn't his cameo as a kid in First Class look say 9-10? Hmm, puzzling. Then, the aforementioned walking of Xavier in X3 and Origins, and the still-partnership of Xavier and Erik in the X3 opening. Back to X1, Xavier says it's been 15 years since Wolverine lost his memory, placing the film around 1994. But wait-at the beginning, it says something like 'in the near future'. Say what?
Don't get me wrong, I love First Class-I think it was the best Superhero film of last year. But it throws more into an already-confusing continuity. Now, I would love to see Mr. Sinister and/or Apocalypse in the sequel, but there are two problems:
Problem 1: I think they're much better suited to X4/X5, if they ever happen.
Problem B: There is only one villain who can fix all the timey-wimey madness-Proteus. Kevin MacTaggart, the son (though could be brother if necessary) of Moira, is a mutant who can control (somehow) time and space. His inclusion could fix things.
