X-Men: First Class Cast Discuss The Movie, Mock Poster Campaign

The cast of Matthew Vaughn's X prequel were gathered together for the movie's press conference yesterday and seemed to have a great time joking about their characters as well as the movie's much maligned advertising campaign...

The cast of First Class seem just as candid and honest about the process of making the film as their director is. In these excerpts from Screen Rant's coverage of the 25 minute press conference for the movie's premier, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and co have a laugh about various aspects of working on the movie and also seem to agree that the poster campaign associated with First Class was, well, second class at best...

Zoe Kravitz(Angel) on how different the experience could have been..

“Everyone on [X-Men: First Class] was so cool. Honestly, I think if I was here with a bunch of Hollywood – excuse my French – ass*****, it would’ve been intimidating and [an] awful experience, but if everyone’s there to make a good film, and everyone’s down to Earth, and everyone’s there for the right reasons, [the scale of the film] doesn’t really matter.”

Kevin Bacon(Sebastian Shaw) jokes about how he won the role..

“I don’t know if this says something about my self-esteem, but the first thing I said when I was offered [the role of Sebastian Shaw] was, ‘Who fell out?’”

To which everyone within earshot bellowed a half-minute-long “Awww,” followed by Michael Fassbender saying, “It was Brian Dennehy.”

They also joked about January Jones getting pregnant. Mmm, wonder if those rumors are true after all;)..

McAvoy and Fassbender even brainstormed names for January Jones’ unborn baby, including Little Magneto, Magneto Jr., Little Banshee, and Riptide. “Riptide needs his nappy changed!” said McAvoy.

And, those God awful promo posters. It appears the fans weren't the only ones disappointed in em..

“One thing I sort of saw on the blog,” said Fassbender, “one fan wrote that the poster looks like a Sears catalogue. I thought that was pretty funny.”

“One fan actually said we had pigeon feet, and then I looked at the poster and went, ‘****, we really [do] have pigeon feet.’”

And we will give the last word to Fassbender on whether they will be back for a sequel or not..

“Yeah, you never want to pass up on a chance to make money. So if we make money on this one, I’m sure we’ll be back,” [in his sarcastic 'movie trailer guy' voice] “next summer!”
