According to Deadline, 20th Century FOX has hired Drew Goddard to direct and write the upcoming X-Force movie, which will focus on "a Black Ops force of down and dirty mutant warriors who are far more ruthless than their X-Men counterparts."

The report also confirms that Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool and Josh Brolin's Cable will return to lead the team - though there's no mention of which other characters will also feature. Domino (Zazie Beetz) is probably a safe enough bet, however.

Many fans have been hoping to see Goddard take the reigns of his his superhero property for quite a while, so this is great news.

Reynolds will produce X-Force along with Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner. Goddard is expected to get working on the script soon.

@Deonox - Yes loved Daredevil season 1 and Cabin in the woods. He was originally supposed to direct Sony's Sinister 6 but that got scrapped. Good director, and I now have faith in X-Force turning out great.

@mastakilla39 - Now would be a good time to introduce a new Wolverine and Sabertooth. Have them battle and then join the team.

Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. Finally he gets a fricking CBM gig, even though I don't like the Fox universe....this is something that will be amazing with him directing AND writing.

Really wish Marvel Studios let him do more under their umbrella, he is as talented or more so than a few directing projects for them.

And for WB, I was really hoping he'd get consideration for The Flash.

@Menks123 - All I'm seeing is Cabin in the Woods, which i did enjoy...but that's just one film. Has he done more films not on IMDB?

Not trying to troll, just curious why people are so excited...

@Talontd - That's his directorial debut, but also wrote it with Joss Whedon. However, he wrote some of the best episodes of Daredevil, Alias, Angel, Buffy, Cloverfield. He is also a huuuuge comic nerd.

Did the screenplay for The Martian too. His writing and passion is what gets me most excited, i'm a Goddard fanboy lol.
