X-MEN '97 Episode Titles Revealed - What Do They Tell Us About The First Season? Possible SPOILERS

The 10 episode titles for Marvel Studios' upcoming animated series, X-Men '97, have been shared online, and they might give us a better idea of what to expect from this first season...

One of the most highly-anticipated superhero projects on the horizon is undoubtedly Marvel Studios' X-Men '97, which will serve as a revival of/sequel to the classic '90s animated series.

We're still waiting on a trailer for the Disney+ show, and aside from an initial announcement banner and some leaked merchandise/promo art, we haven't seen so much as a single officially-released image.

We're sure the marketing will ramp up in the new year, but for now, scooper CWGST has revealed the titles for all 10 episodes of the first season.

While the titles don't appear to give too much away at first glance, some of them definitely offer hints at what the episodes in question could focus on, and those familiar with the X-Men's comic book history are sure to pick up on a few things.

For that reason, potential spoilers follow.

E1: To Me, My X-Men

E2: Mutant Liberation Begins

E3: Fire Made Flesh

E4: Motendo

E5: Remember It

E6: Bright Eyes

E7: Shine With Strength Reborn

E8: Tolerance is Extinction - Part 1

E9: Tolerance is Extinction - Part 2

E10: Tolerance is Extinction - Part 3

Some details for the three-part season finale have previously been shared. It's believed that Nathan Summers/Cable will feature, while the X-Men will face-off with several villains, including Mister Sinister, Bastion, and a deadly new wave of Sentinels. In addition, we'd say "Motendo" will most likely be the episode that sees Jubilee and Sunspot trapped in a 16-bit video game environment by Mojo.

Amid a series of recent release date shake-ups, X-Men '97 was officially pushed back to early 2024 - but it sounds like the show is going to be worth the wait.

In THR's report on the delays, the series is described as "a spiritual and tonal continuation of the classic 1990s series that aired on Fox," and a "retro love letter to the original." The trade also confirms that plans are in place for a second season.

X-Men '97 will serve as a direct sequel to X-Men: The Animated Series' five-season run, but there's speculation that it may also set up the team's eventual live-action MCU debut (unlikely, but we might get a few hints and/or teases here and there).

Returning voice cast members include Lenore Zann as Rogue, Cal Dodd as Wolverine, Catherine Disher as Jean Grey, George Buza as Beast, Chris Potter as Gambit, Adrian Hough as Nightcrawler, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Christopher Britton as Mister Sinister, and Alyson Court as Jubilee.

The official synopsis reads: "Storm and Wolverine try to continue the X-Men. Magneto comes in and wants to step up for Charles Xavier. [Mister] Sinister comes in to try to end the X-Men once and for all."

I'm so excited for this! Maybe I should dial it back.. idk if I'll be able to handle disappointment because this was my childhood, along with Spider-Man TAS and Batman TAS

@bobevanz - Dude, I'm right there with you. I watched EXACTLY those same shows as a kid, and likewise am getting seriously stoked for this. I'm going to have to go back and watch all the original episodes before this comes out, but even though I haven't seen them for like 30 years or whatever, my hype-meter is through the roof for this. Hopefully they don't f**k it up and just do it as a continuation of the original series (I'm pretty confident that that's what they'll do).

This is amazing. Such a great idea.
I remember back in '98 I was 20 minutes late for a Saturday music competition because of this show.
When I finally showed up to the warm-up, the band teacher stopped the warm-up, looked directly at me, and asked: "what's your excuse (last name here)?"
All I could say was "well..... X-Men was on!" I got 2 days detention. SO worth it.

Since they are calling this X-Men 97

Will the live action future movie also have X-men in the title or
will the Woke Activist who run Marvel drop the name?

@Vigor - you couldn't articulate it because I just called you out for calling people who disagree with you racist and sexist and you can't think of another word to use.

@Origame - I don't need to think of another word, sugar. Racist and sexist work just fine. Especially in your case
Origame
Origame - 12/26/2023, 9:17 PM
@Vigor - dude, it's only sexist in this case if you genuinely believe the name change was necessary. It's undeniable that disney was at least toying with the idea of changing the title for x men because "x men" isn't inclusive enough since women are on the team.

So are you genuinely saying that's a necessary change?

It's because of tools like you those terms no longer hold the real strength they once did. 🙄

Arcade instead of Mojo for the 16-bit game episode could have introduced a new villain.

Small peeve. Looking forward to my old favorite Saturday morning cartoon

“Magneto comes in and wants to step up for Charles Xavier.”

Why would these morons allow him to join them after all the mayhem he has caused. He belongs him jail. Or for Wolverine to slice his head off.

Idiots.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 12/26/2023, 9:30 PM
@JobinJ - Have you not read X-Men comics or watch3d the original animated series? Magneto has been a good guy many times.

And they ended the animated series on good terms. And they teamed up many times throughout the comics and animated series. Magneto isn't the Joker. He isn't some Psycho that just wants to murder people. (Although he has been that at times)

Magneto honestly wants what's best for mutants and he's willing to try anything. He's even admitted his way was the wrong way and tried to be peaceful more times than anyone can count.
dracula

@JobinJ - they did it in the comics.

@JobinJ -
::Continuation of @CorndogBurglar 's comment::

Have you not read the Age of Apocalypse comics? In that storyline, a time traveler went to the past and killed Xavier before the X-Men were formed. Magneto understood what Xavier's dream was and therefore brought the X-Men together in his stead. Magneto also understood that you should hope for the best and prepare for the worst. That's why a lot of people see him as a villain.

Magneto isn't some psycho that just wants to murder people. That's why he stood in defense of non-mutants against Apocalypse.

If you've ever read comics, you would understand that even the X-Men don't want to kill Magneto. Wolverine wouldn't want to slice Magneto's head off. Um... Well, uh there was that one time when Magneto ripped the adamantium out of Wolverine. But that was in the '90s when comics were stupid and from Wolverine's POV it was personal. Anyway, ignoring that, Wolverine would not want to kill Magneto. Wolverine understands how the world works. All of the X-Men do. That's why none of them have any deep seated hatred for Magneto.
