As of today,
X-Men Apocalypse currently sits at a 52% on Rotten Tomatoes. Some say that the film is overloaded, while others think it's possibly the best installment in the franchise. Even so,
Alexandra Shipp, who portrays the young version of Storm in the film, is staying positive! During a recent interview with
Yahoo!, the 24-year old actress revealed how Halle Berry's performance as Storm affected her own portrayal.
"I spent the first month trying to imitate Halle Berry, for a minute. Because I was like, how am I going to live up to Halle Berry?” She then added, "
I was like, ‘All right, hold on. People aren’t going to want to see you be Halle Berry. Otherwise they’re going to want Halle, you know? You got to find your own Storm. You got to find who you think Storm is in these moments and in this time in her life.’”
If you want to be the best Storm you can be, what better to do than to get in contact with Halle Berry, who portrayed Storm in four of the seven
X-Men films? As the interview when on, Shipp revealed that she indeed
"reached out to" Halle, however, she had no luck.
“You know, Halle’s got her show and her family and stuff. So I understand, she’s got her thing going on. Also, I think that my email might have scared her because it was a lot of word vomit. Like, ‘Oh, my God, I love you, you’re so amazing. What does your hair smell like? What perfume do you wear? If you had a favorite deodorant scent, what would it be?’” Shipp isn't the only one who's trying to portray her hero differently! Sophie Turner (who plays Jean Grey), also revealed that she intends to make her version stand out from that of Famke Janssen's. What do you think? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
