Filming on the Island is expected to begin later this month and could even be used for fictional Scottish Muir Island.

the plane is a sr 71 blackbird as it always was in the comics and was first used by the airforce in 1963 so it is very possible and plausable that they would have it in the 60 xmen

that might explain why they have such a huge character cast. some people might be retiring after this storyline, as reflected in the original comics plot

jsolutions, I just don't think they will use a living island. Its not really a cinematic villain, and brings things to close to Godzilla/Cloverfield territory. I could be wrong of course, but we already know that the film will feature Shaw, Azazel and possibly even the Shadow King so I doubt they will have Krakoa in there on top of that.

I think after the crash with the x-jet is Xavier paralyzed. Perhaps that could be the end of the movie.

I am starting to get a good feeling about this film......

I know weird right? The whole Star Trek approach and choice of characters has me believing that they are going to ret-con the story.......I believe we should all be ready.

Savage Land would be cool, Krakoa unlikely. Maybe Genosha or Madripoor? And it's definitely not Muir Island. Matthew Vaughn IS British - I'm pretty sure he knows there are no palm trees in Scotland.

As cool as the SR-71 Blackbird was, there are numerous reasons why it would never work for the X-Men, particularly that it only seats a crew of two people wearing pressurized spacesuits and oxygen masks.

I still don't know how I feel about the movie. Don't get me wrong, by all means I hope sense they're attempting this prequel/reboot hybrid, that it'll be good. However, I am still a little down about it not being the original five as the main characters. Oh well...

more i here the more confused i get. don't get me wrong, i HOPE its a good movie. maybe the problem is us. as fanboys/girls we expect direct from the comic adaptions. non fanboys/girls dont have those expectations. if the average joe is told this is the origin of the x men , they will believe it. we are a minority, and THAT IS THE PROBLEM!!!

I think they're using the CUBAN MISSILE CRISIS as a backdrop to the story. That Island could be Cuba. The Russians parked Nuclear missiles there back in '60 or so. Kennedy had to decide weather to go to war. I think Russia was listed as a filming location and Brian Singer mentioned a more International James Bond feel. Also Magnetos first comic appearance as a villain involved launching missiles at the US. They could replace him with Sebastian Shaw. I'm an older fan and think this is where they're going with the story.
