The folks over at Moviehole say that casting agents were handed out a cast sheet looking to cast Artemisia in the upcoming 300 sequel. What is significant about this is that the cast sheet had the name of the movie as 300: The Battle of Artemisium, instead of the previously reported 300: The Battle of Artemisia. There is was also a brief synopsis attached to the the sheet that gives us a possibility of what the story might hold for the upcoming sequel to Zack Snyder's 300.

Possible Synopsis from Moviehole:

Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro) is somewhat pushed into the bloody battle with the Greeks by the gold-covered maven goddess Artemisia. Artemisia, witnessing just how much his father King Darius’s death has affected him, persuades Xerxes – with her “vindictive charm” – to go into battle against those responsible.

Artemisia tells Xerxes that he has no choice but to avenge his father’s death and has to man up before becoming king. So, he sets off to become a God because that’s the only way he can win the battle.

Artemisia, on her hunt for a group of men to join Xerxes in the battle against the Greeks, doesn’t stop at brainwashing Xerxes. She also manages to convince Themistocles (the character “Animal Kingdom” star Joel Edgerton is in talks to play) to side with her somewhat. Though the Persians took his family, and he’s spent ten years training the Greeks for battle, Artemisia has such an allure about her that the muscly Greek is taken. Ultimately, she convinces him that his life will be better off if he swaps sides. But this guy’s also as good a liar as he is a fighter.

So the way they are making it sound Artemisia is going to be one of the major characters in the story, so it will be interesting to see who they pick for the part. No word yet on when the Noam Murro is set to get underway.

And the award for the erratic use of the word "Somewhat" in the synopsis for a film that shouldn't even be getting made goes to....

Artemisia = Goddess
Artemisium = Location where Greeks defeat Persians.

It is dumb to put a Goddess interfering with Themistocles. I don't know. I love greek history, Themistocles is a much more deep and interesting figure than Leonidas, this outline make it sound dumb, but at least it gives Xerxes some history.

this lame studios....

first it was X-men Origins: Wolverine

now, 300: The Battle of Artemisium
