What's the over/under that you're going to see 300: Rise of an Empire in theaters when it opens March 7th? For that matter, what are the chances that you're going to see RoboCop when it opens tomorrow? On the off chance that you are, you'll get to see an extended look at 'Rise of an Empire' which should help you make up your mind. Seven years ago, 300 surprised movie audiences and created a renewed interest in Frank Miller comic book properties but that was....seven years ago. No one is certain that a sequel can carry that same level of interest after so much time has passed. Still, the early reaction to a 13-minute preview screened for media outlets was pretty favorable so perhaps WB has another surprise on its hands?

300 sneak peek

Starring Lena Headey, Eva Green, Rodrigo Santoro, Sullivan Stapleton, Andrew Tiernan and Callan Mulvey. Directed by Noam Murro. Written by Kurt Johnstad and Zack Snyder based on the fictional work of Frank Miller. Produced by Thomas Tull, Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder, Stephen Jones, Jon Jashni, Craig J. Flores and Marty P. Ewing for Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. Studios. The film is set for U.S. release on March 7.

After its victory over Leonidas' 300, the Persian Army under the command of Xerxes marches south towards the major Greek city-states. The Democratic city of Athens, first on the path of Xerxes' army, bases its strength on its fleet, led by admiral Themistocles. Themistocles is forced to an unwilling alliance with the traditional rival of Athens, oligarchic Sparta whose might lies with its superior infantry troops. But Xerxes still reigns supreme in numbers over sea and land.
