News about the sequel/prequel to 300.

Zack Snyder had this to say about the sequel's possible plot.

"There's something that happens in history between Leonidas dying at the Hot Gates and Platea," Snyder explained of the possible plot, mentioning the events between the Battle of Thermopylae and the Battle of Plataea. "That's a year that's left out of the [original] movie. A lot happened."

On whether or not a follow-up movie will be developed, Snyder claimed, "Frank is definitely working on an idea. If Frank comes up with a great idea and draws something cool, there's no reason why we wouldn't make another movie." Asked further whether he would return to do another "300" film, he said, "If Frank does something great then yes. It's on him now."

"300" is a 2007 epic battle film that chronicles the story of King Leonidas and his 300 Spartans who fight to their death against Xerxes and his army

I don't see the need for a sequel. I suppose if Millar is writing, it will be good. I hope that Zack doesn't try anything like this with the Watchmen.

SirPrize, now that's an idea!!

300 was a great movie and one of the best graphic novel adaptation's to date. It doesn't really need a sequel, but I have confidence in Zack Snyder to create a competent film. I do NOT, however, have confidence in Frank Miller to write a competent sequel. Don't get me wrong, the man has made some of the most important contributions to the comic medium, but that was a long time ago. What has he done since the dawn of the millennium that hasn't been god awful?

I'm really not sure about this I would rather they leave it alone. But if they really wanna make a sequel they better do a damn good job and not throw some crap together just to make some more money.

its all about money baby!

i admit that i am a fan of 300...waited for it since i saw the trailer...advertised it to my friends..watched it in a cinema and bought a dvd...got it on my ipod touch..bought a magazine with leonidas poster...even if i thirst for more of it (sequel) i think they should leave it as it is...but if they cant be stopped i am going to watch it still...

As much I would love to see another 300 movie (if its done correctly), I however am not sure if I want to listen to all the testosterone pumped idiots rave on how bad ass it is for months on end, I know its bad ass, I dont need to hear it from 48 different people

Heh, you can just hear all the actor let out a massive "sigh and grumble" when they realise the all the hard work they put into getting thier beer guts back.
Or why cant Frank work on an anthology of Ancient Greek historical events, myths, or legends done in the same style as 300?

they don't need it, but 300 is one of my favorite movies of all time (i might go watch it now). i liked watchmen, and i think that zack is one hell of a director. i always wanted to see him do wolverine. or moon knight for that matter. but i would love another 300, but i don't see the need for it.

A sequel can be made, but it should be about the battle of Salamis, it was the most critical moment of that war. In despite of what was shown in 300, it was Athens who made the winning movement (thanks to Themistocles, who would be the main character in this film).

A sequel to 300 is absolutely unneccessary. Just like walking into a restaurant filled with people, farting as hard and loud as you can, and walking out without saying a word.
If they do do another 300-esque movie, why don't they make one about a different historical/mythical battle? Same effects and visual shine, but different story. Like...maybe, heck i don't know, Julius Ceasar? Anything, just don't freakin' ruin a good staple in our generation's movie-memories. We don't want to wind up telling our grandkids this sad story one day.

Merinator_ nice link. i checked it out. you are TOTALLY right, The Salamis batle was the turning point in those Greek-Persian wars.

The sequel should begin right after the end of 300, as the rest of the greeks find out that Xerxes is advancing..but yeah,Themistocles should be the main character as he encourages the rest of the greek to join in battle.

But the battle of Plataea should be in the movie as well.
To keep a unified sequel, it should be narrated by the same eye-patched character that was in 300 and that actually is shown in the Plataea battlefield.

Merinator
Merinator - 4/9/2009, 3:17 AM
I have reconsidered my point. Perhaps a "sequel" based on the battle of Salamis isn't an appropiated word. Athens was practically the opposite of Sparta, and treating both vissually equal should be a mistake. Zack snyder can be director, of course, and Miller can write the script, but they need a different approach for this one. So, more than a sequel, this a spin-off, or a all-new, all different movie about greek-presian war.
