Zack Snyder Talks 300 in 3D and the Prequel Xerxes!

Snyder has suggested that fans of 300 may have a chance to see the movie re-released in 3D in the near future as well as discussing plans for the prequel...

"I saw maybe like a ten-minute section that they'd just done. I haven't seen the whole movie but they're talking about doing the whole movie."

Snyder also went on to reveal that he may be in the director's chair for the 300 prequel, Xerxes once he finishes work on his current movie Sucker Punch.

"I'm waiting on Frank Miller for the sequel to '300' and there's a really good chance that will be the thing we do. He's been working hard, so he's supposed to show me something really soon; actually in the next few months, he's going to show me something. There was a big discussion about what we would do for the sequel to '300' and I said, "I didn't tell Frank what to write the first time, and I'm not telling him what to write this time," he said when asked who came up with the idea for Xerxes.

"I'll take it and I'll adapt it and make it into a movie and I'll write a screenplay, but I want him to do whatever he thinks. I'm not going to say I'm 100%, like that's it, but on the other hand, I'm pretty confident it's going to be awesome. That would be the next thing and then I'm working on a sci-fi thing that Kurt and I are writing together, an original thing."

I am so tired of the film industry so freaking lazy they are not actually putting out new film just rehashing it in Hi-Def, Quadraphonic, Digatally Remastered, nano-colored synced, 3-D, smellovision, re-releases.

Yup. But thats only one side of it, no one is forcing you to watch what Hollywood churns out..there are independent films too! If your so sick of the glossy stuff why not check em out? Personally I like a mix of both.. there are still good Hollywood films that come from the shit factory, and shit Indies from the art factory.

As for this 300 sequel, meh, see what they come up with but it was a stand alone story..and not exactly layered enough for a sequel. We get half naked men killing each other again..

300 WAS REALLY GREAT AND LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING THAT CAN BE IN 3D.I DID LOVE WATCHMEN MORE THAN 300 AND I FEEL WATCHMEN SHOULD BE IN 3D AS WELL

This will be interesting ... I thought 300 hundered was good... Calling Xerxes also interesting ... But I wonder what the prequel will be about... I would understand it a little better if he actually continued with the battle of Plataea like in the ending of 300 ... Or an amazing see battle with Themistocles again out numbered and still were able to succeed...

But who knows this might just be pretty good.

@ Quagmire
Dawn of the Dead = REMAKE
300 = ADAPTATION
WATCHMEN = ADAPTATION
YES - but they were good movies that you can watch more than once and that is better than crappy movies you wish youd never seen.

I agree with Ror, it will be hard for the sequel to avoid a large dose of the same. I just can't get excited for this one. At least not as much as this dude...

I can't believe I am saying this but I agree with Keven. How do you center a movie around Xerxes? He can't be a good guy a la Scorpion King. If anyone could do it, Frank Miller can.

I like that Snyder will just wait to see what Miller comes up with.

Plenty of material with Xerxes to make myriad stories around, and his bloodline. It's like a several hundred year period with some massive soap opera drama.

Get ready for splatterhouse Snyder to go back to his roots, and hopefully create something original and worth all the hype again.

and Ror left out his favorite part: "We get half naked men [wiping eachother down with olive oil] killing each other again.. =P

I, for one, would much rather see Watchmen in 3-D than 300.
I think 300 was too dark and murky - too full of shades of grey - to have the 3-D work in a particularly effective way. It would almost be like watching a black-and-white movie in 3-D, something that seems a little pointless given that the colours add to the textures in 3-D films.
At least with Watchmen, the colurs were vivid, although it has just struck me that having Dr Manhattan's meat-and-two-veg swinging around in 3-D would probably be a bit too much!

I loved 300, I thought it was an awesome movie but they should just leave it alone. No sequel or prequel, just let it be.
