A-Team Casts District 9 Actor as Murdock?

No one knew this one was coming, that's for sure.

This from Blackfilm.com:

"Through a reliable source, Blackfilm.com has learned exclusively that an offer has been made to rising star 'District 9' Star Sharlto Copley for the role."

Off course at this point this is only a rumor. There has been no confirmation that Copley has accepted yet. Among the other actors mentioned for the role Jim Carrey, Steve Buscemi, Timothy Olyphant, Woody Harrelson, Sam Rockwell, Chris Pine and Robert Downey Jr. You can throw all these guys out the window except for maybe Sam Rockwell.

After the 4 star performance that Copley put into Distric 9 I'm surprised he hasn't been offered more roles. Just in case you don't know who Copley is I have included a picture below for your enjoyment.

Yeah, Jim Carrey is getting a little more serious. Take for instance, Spotless Mind, and The Majestic. He did very well in those. And he was downright creepy in Number 23.

Jim Carrey for Murdock!

....right then...wow.
I liked what ever this guys name is from District 9 and was shocked about 1/3 into the film that this would be our main character. It was different ill tell you that (anyone else notice how his accent kept going scottish when he got angry?)

Ive said it before but im not a big fan of an A-team movie (that wasnt from the 80's....THAT would have been awesome) but i have to agree with a bunch of people. Jim Carrey should have been Murdock.
Nuff said.

Sorry Leee777, Knoxville def gets it over Carrey. It's gotta be believable to the audience that the guy would actually end up doing some crazy shit. Carrey does crazy funny. Knoxville does crazy dangerous.

Another movie that should not be made at all.

Even the concept doesn't work. Every report says it will be updated, meaning that instead of them being a crack commando squad from the Vietnam War, they will be a team who served in Desert Storm.
Desert Storm wasn't much of a war. The US Armed Forces rolled right over Iraq. In that type of conflict, how could these guys develop the reputation that makes them the A-Team in the first place?

Also, regardless of who they cast as Murdock, Face, or Hannibal, Mr.T is B.A. Baracus. These are characters with chemistry onscreen that can't be duplicated. This movie is gonna be another disgusting Dukes of Hazzard.

When will Hollywood learn just to leave some things alone?

superdog-- Manimal! That was my joint when I was a kid!! Did you ever watch Automan, Misfits of Science or Street Hawk?

hescian-- Yes let sleeping legends lie. Also, why stick to any source material at all. Make 'em teenagers. They are crack commandos from LA gangs. Makes as much sense as when they do it to other stories.

Hescian-You're right, I wouldn't do a "Desert Storm" origin. But I would do "Iraqi Freedom" vets angle! We've been there for over six years, and it grew exceptionally political like Vietnam. If these guys were framed like those in the Abu Ghraib, and fled back to the states, that'd be cool. Except, when guns fire, bullets ought to find there mark. And, they shouldn't be able to fabricate tanks from vans in only a few hours of planning and hands-on work. THat was really stupid.

Betty- If you change the story with as much as you're suggesting, you might as well change the title. The A-street gang???
Betty
Betty - 9/10/2009, 6:16 PM
"The A-Street Gang"

I LOVE it! Lets get to work, y'all! They're breakdancers trying to win a competition so they can raise enough money to save the local YMCA. Whatastory!

We'll call BA Baracus-- Turbo. His special moves are poppin' and lockin', the jerk. We can call Murdock-- Special K. His special moves are high stepping, the suicide, and the windmill. Faceman is still Faceman but all he says is, "you got Faced m'man!"

I could see this guy playing murdock if he could drop that accent of his.

Definitely Jim Carrey with an insane Murdoch hair style.

While were at it here are my some of old TV shows I would love to see being made into a movie or reboot.

1. The Equalizer
2. Green Hornet (Praying it will be great.)
3. Hawaii Five-0 ( Purely for fans)
4. The A-Team
5. Scooby Doo reboot
( Ok the previous movie was entertaining and funny but I am a fan of the original concept and was expecting it to be slightly darker and realistic but still funny. Focusing more on thrill, mystery with criminals in disguise of ghosts and supernatural. Perhaps not even a CGI dog!)
6. The British Avengers reboot
(This is difficult coz it relies real chemistry bet Steed and Mrs. Peel)
7. Invasion UFO - God does anybody remember this show? Its theme rocks!
8. Space 1999 - The return of moon base Alpha!
9. Land of the Lost (Nooooo! what have they done?!!!)
10. .......
Crap! I forgotthe 10th . Ok just to complete the list (while I'm trying to recall the right TV show) Its toss up between Gilligan's Island and Lassie or Boomer! X-D

LOL @ BettY! Great! I love it too! It would be a total parody of Hollyweird's attempts to mainline nostalgic 80's tv show's and films. The can talk like Fat Albert and the Junkyard Gang.

KALABOG: I don't know if you've realized this, while we're on the topic of awful reboot/movie ideas, but there is a new live-action Scooby-Doo coming out (might be just for TV). But here's the awful movie kicker: it's a PREQUEL!!! How the gang met, and their first adventure together. http://www.multichannel.com/article/102052-Cartoon_Sets_Scooby_Doo_Prequel_For_Fall_2009.php
I've already seen a commercial for it.

Not only does hollywood constantly ruin already great ideas/tv shows/movies with reboots and remakes, but when they run out of ideas, they always do a "prequel". The only reason they do prequels is so they don't have to stick to any previous character histories or personalities. They figure it gives them free rein to do whatever they want. Makes me sick...
