We haven't had many updates on Bullet Train since those leaked set photos were shared online early last year, but we now have a first glimpse of some footage from Deadpool 2 director David Leitch's high-concept action thriller via a new viral advert.

The Nippon Speed Line promo is narrated by star Brad Pitt, who promises a "truly unforgettable experience" is coming on March 2 (presumably when the full trailer will be released). After a few stunning shots of the titular train speeding through various picturesque locations, we get a quick shot of Pitt's character looking a little the worse for wear as he looks out the window.

The Once Upon A Time In Hollywood actor will play one of a group of assassins competing to take out the same target.

The Sony Pictures release also stars Sandra Bullock, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry, Andrew Koji, Zazie Beetz, Lady Gaga and Michael Shannon.

Based on Japanese novel Maria Beetle by best-selling author Kotaro Isaka, Bullet Train follows "five assassins on a fast-moving bullet train from Tokyo to Morioka with only a few stops in between. They discover their missions are linked to one another. The question becomes, who will make it off the train alive and what awaits them at the terminal station?"

The movie was produced by Kelly McCormick through 87North, along with Antoine Fuqua. Ryosuke Saegusa and Yuma Terada of CTB Inc will exec produce. The script was penned by Zak Olkewicz (The Last Voyage of the Demeter, Fear Street 2).

Bullet Train is set to hit theaters on July 15.

Before life with Angelina Jolie, Pitt was the Hollywood hunk who looked like he was 25 in Troy. A few years with Jolie and he looked 40 his Jesse James movie. After Jolie, he looks like 65 year old Charles Bronson.

@PartyKiller - That was from his excessive drug use which is the primary reason why Jolie showed him the door. Didn't want that around the kids. Everyone wants to blame Jolie because well she is Jolie, but I call B.S. on that. And no being with her didn't make him take up the habit.

@Mugens - You must not know what kind of stress a typical crazy female can cause a guy. But Jolie is off the charts crazy. She loves publicly lip locking with her own brother. She tried hiring someone to kill her. She is addicted to cocaine and heroin. Is such a control freak/sociopath that she was committed when she lost control of Billy Bob Thornton. She made his life hell too! And like Pitt, he just so happened to age faster when he was in a relationship with her. She is an uncontrollable diva on movie sets.

But yeah, lets take her word about Brad Pitt and just write off how her men age faster as a mere coincidence.

Wish we had bullet trains in the States.

@Vanillain - Actually there are a couple of bullet train projects in various stages of development here. Right off the top of my head, I believe that there is one in California from LA to San Francisco (https://hsr.ca.gov), one going from LA to Vegas (https://www.gobrightline.com/brightline-west), and one going from Dallas to Houston (https://www.texascentral.com/project/).

You would think that in the US given all our technological advancements we would have had bullet trains decades ago, but between certain factions of the government and the oil and automotive industry, well, here we are :/

@Vanillain - I personally really like the prospect of bullet trains in the US. Aside from the fact that I've always like trains since I was a kid (I had train sets and such), it just makes so much sense, especially when we're dealing with all these climate change issues. The last time I was in China visiting my (now) wife's family, we took the bullet train from Tianjin to Beijing, which was a 2 hour trip by car and it only took 30 mins. Exactly 30 mins. And only cost about $7 USD for a round trip. And the trains are so nice it's like being in a plane. They have "train attendants" that bring you water and such. Go go up to about 135KM/H and it' so smooth you'd think that it was mag-lev but it's not. They even have a crew that jumps out of the train when it pulls into the station and mops down the outside every time.

Contrast that to, say, the Metra Commuter rail in Chicago (where I grew up). Big old diesel engines that take 1 hour 20 minutes to go 45 miles (and that's the "express") from the suburbs to the city and I think the cheapest is like $10 (although it's been a while since I've been there). On the plus side you can bring beer on the train and there's always the unpredictable entertainment to be had when you are coming home on the later trips on drinking holidays ;)

@Vanillain - they've been building one out here in California for a little while now. This really can change the game for us and hopefully be an answer to the God-awful pollution

@StSteven - I had no idea about the LA to Vegas and Dallas to Houston one. That's great to hear.

I've been keeping track of the SF to LA for a while now and hope it does go through. But it had such a rough ride through all those red tapes that even seeing the construction in person at Highway 99, I can only believe it when it's finally done.

@Vanillain - Actually I just did a quick Google search and there are a lot more "high speed rail" projects than we knew of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-speed_rail_in_the_United_States. Finally! :)
