Claire Foy Suits-Up As Lisbeth Salander In The First Trailer For THE GIRL IN THE SPIDER'S WEB

Make that two trailers! The first domestic & international teasers for The Girl in the Spider's Web are now online. See Claire Foy dole out her own brand of justice as Lisbeth Salander after the jump...

The first footage from The Girl in the Spider's Web is now online via a pair of trailers for director Fede Alvarez's adaptation of Stieg Larsson's David Lagercrantz's novel.

The first is actually an extended scene from the film, as ruthless vigilante Lisbeth Salander (Claire Foy) doles out justice to another abusive asshole. However, the international teaser gives us a much better idea of what to expect from the plot.

Foy steps in to this role carrying a lot of pressure, as she's following critically acclaimed turns from both Noomi Rapace and Rooney Mara. Likewise, the film itself will draw inevitable comparisons to David Fincher's English language remake of The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo.

Check out the trailers below along with a poster, and let us know how you think Spider's Web will match up.

@RolandD - Never read the novel, but seen the original trilogy. This seems like a huge departure, but the 2nd part of the original trilogy did have more action scenes. But I'm not sure about Salander going Punisher on rich white men is the correct way to depict and interpret her character...My 2 cents.

Idk...Rooney Mara brought a quiet, sinister energy to the charcter that I loved. Not to mention Fincher was at the helm and was perfect for the material. Idk I know its just a brief trailer but it seems to lack the visual singularity and tone of Fincher's work.

@BlackBeltJones - But I'm a BIG FEDE ALVAREZ fan so I will watch.

@BlackBeltJones - It also looks like they for some reason made her seem like a superhero hunting down abusive men. I mean, that kinda happened in the first movie and I'll admit I don't know the direction the sequels went into but it was more of just the guy who assaulted her and then helped out with the investigation that eventually led to an abusive man by coincidence. Again, ignorance on not knowing the books, but isn't this meant to be a sequel to the film anyway without the other stories there?

Bleh. Foy seems to be doing an impersonation of Mara here, who did, admittedly, owe a lot of Rapace - but at least she was convincing.

So is this movie supposed to be based on "The girl who played with fire" book? or which one?..If so I would've rather Fincher to be the one directing the whole trilogy.

@ROFERG - It's an adaptation of book four which was a ghost written novel based on the first of three outlines written by Steg Larson found after his death.

@TheIronDuck - I thought it was completely an original plot. Laarson’s partner has an unfinished manuscript written by Laarson of the true, in my mind fourth book.

@TheIronDuck - Ohh I see, I had no idea. I've only read the Larsson trilogy and that was like 6 years ago... I might give this other one a chance soon.

Not bad...I wish Rooney Mara returned to the role. They make the SAME mistake as the DCEU, casually recasting characters which only invites comparisons and breaks any sense of continuity.
